LOL!!!
My wife makes me put the dog and cat in the back yard before I "start"!!
lol

My wife has a standard set of responses to each new package of laser "stuff" I bring home where she will start with "That's just fine, but . . ."

Then when passing my work room (my laser lair) she will ask

Hello, I am madmacmo and I am a High Tech Junkie

I can't stop either, but I like how you go to the source of your addiction to somehow get reassurance that you do not have a problem :). Like going the local pub and asking the drunks at the bar, i don't drink too much, do I?

I think it's more of an obsession than an addiction. As long as you have fun, learn, and don't kill the family pet or burn down the house, who are you hurting?

So what are you planning to buy/build next?

So true! I would really like to one day build a really big array of 445's into one single beam. I know folks do that stuff... I think I have a lot to learn before I get there though!

I like to replace the words obsessed and addiction with dedicated and dedication. Sounds so much better.

And when all else fails just say "That's how I roll", such a simple phrase that can justify nearly any "dedication".

You sound like you are on the right track in this hobby. If the wife is concerned, you must be well on your way to being a laser hobbyist. :D One laser always leads to another ...
