eh no, im also a filmmaker/actor, and i was planning on making a short with the suit and a laser. so it has to be a laser.

If you're a filmmaker then you'll get far better effects with CG than with an actual laser, it's easy to do even for amateurs and it will look far closer to the "real" thing.

There really is no reason to use an actual laser here.

A beam expander would take up too much space to fit in the palm of a hand.

You do have a point there... Maybe he could find a way to bypass the problem... maybe not. Practicality-wise, I think it would still be a better option but whatever.

so aside from people thinking im going to kill someone with it and blind people... this suit WILL be for my own geeky self, i have NO intentions of using the lasers in Public, when i wear this for Halloween, i will not be hooking up the batteries to the diodes.. im not stupid, and for all you guys, once AGAIN because of my negative rep, thinking im gonna do something stupid and irresponsible, and for your info, i dont live in the US.

@crazyspaz, thank you for your ideas on that! i suppose i could do one diode per driver, but then i would need to connect all them to the same switch.

That's not difficult at all. Feel free to PM me if you need any help.

I for one want to see this project completed and operational :)

As far as I know, fully working palm lasers have only been made by AnselmoFanZero, and those were single-diode setups.

If you manage to build a multi-diode palm laser, that'll be amazingly impressive. Not to mention how awesome the pics will look like.

What are you making the suit out of? I can't figure out the material from the pics. Also, what software are you using to design it?

thanks! :) i cant wait to finish it either. Well to go into detail, the suit is compromised of 3 layers, the first layer, as you can see in the picture. is made from 300gsm card. Its thick, and the designs are made in Pepakura Designer then printed onto the card.

Once the card is done, i will be coating the entire exterior of the helmet with 2 part epoxy, and the interior will be reinforced with fiber glass epoxy combo.

Then the 3rd layer is the body filler, where all the edges and lines will be smoothened out and then sanded down to make it more smooth. Depending on how that goes.. i may or may not add a 2nd layer of body filler.

Then paint/clear coat!

Yes, CGI would be better. but im not a CGI expert... i am an actor/director, and i work on some aspects of cinematography....

a short film is not the only reason why im making this....im making this because itl be cool.. and i think it would capture some pretty impressive vids and pictures...

with CGI, i need to do tracking, shading, editing, reflections... they actually take a considerable amount of time... plus.. i wanna show PEOPLE that i made something like this, it would be impressive.

Sounds like a brutal amount of work. I never really had patience for stuff like that.

Well, do feel free to shoot me a personal message if you want any help with electronics and laser setup. I'll do my best to help you out.

Hi there, yes its the Mark VI with thew triangular arc reactor.

there wont be any red lasers.. but i may be able to put one in the forearm pod... but we shall see. my main priority is to finish the suit with the arm repulsor.

Whats one more laser :p
Are you going to have parts custom machines for this, or how do you plan on actually making it?

well i need a copper disk in the hand plate which would need to be drilled in places where the modules are to be set.... but i havent done any measurements as i havent completed the iron man palm yet... once the palm is done, i can take the diameter of the palms repulsor socket, and get a copper disk of that size.
