My Playmates Star Trek Original Pilot Laser pistol 650nm 180mW red mod is now functional. I only say funtional because I'm flipping back and forth between painting it or not at the moment. I'm sure I'll like the way it would look painted but the present few scuff marks on the original exterior actually to me add character so it looks cool already! I'd be very interested in what you guys think.

Another reason I'm a little reluctant to go through the trouble is that I've been trying to find where I can acquire a better Pike's Laser to mod (definitely full scale) which is a kit by SD Studios here: Star Trek: The Original Series Cage Laser Pistol replica prop weapon I can't find this kit anywhere for sale so if any of you know where I can get one that would be great.

The Playmates toy I got off of ebay for $40 with shipping & the module is another of the same I bought off of eBay for $14 with shipping that I used on my Next Generation red mod. The keyswitchs I get off of ebay for about $3 a piece.

As you can see I added a keyswitch in where one of the fake knobs on the side are, considering how tight the inside of this slightly smaller than scale version of the pilot episode prop it turned out to be the only position I could fit one as you'll see. But I think it looks good there too.

Here's how the inards started out.

My main target was to change the battery compartment from 2x AAs to 1x 14500. This would allow me to not only move the speaker back but give room for the keyswich to occupy. Now I could fit the laser module and heatsink where they needed to be.

This was just before I put electrical tape over connectors and to guard again shorts in other areas.

Here's my upstairs neighbor firing it for me so I can take a couple front firing view pics (with safety glasses on of course!).

Tried getting a good side view of firing, didn't quite work out (forgot to have my neighbor help with that one).

My Star Trek Host collection is starting to fill. Whether I paint this mod or not my next mod will be my Klingon Disruptor Green mod (532nm 100mW).

Great work once again Shadowsix. I watched Star Trek from when it first went on the air in 1966, have seen every episode of every series and every movie. I can't wait to see the Klingon disruptor, that will no doubt be the best one of all.

Thank you Alan!

I've watched most everything including the original series. Even though I was a little kid I got to watch the original series new because of my older brother.

Even though I'll always be partial to the my classic phaser green mod (I just acquired another Playmates Original Series phaser, I'll do this one as a blue mod with a module I'll get from DTR) I think you are right about the Klingon Disruptor green mod will be the coolest of all! The 2013 Diamond Select Klingon Disruptor is very detailed and over a foot long. Takes 3xAAA so plenty of voltage & current to work with.

So I'm guessing nobody has an opinion as to whether I should paint this badboy or not? And nobody's heard of or know where I can acquire the other more detailed model of the original series pilot laser pistol? Ok, no biggie.

I'll move on to the Klingon Disruptor green mod. My first issue with this mod to start is how to get off the screw covers without hurting the housing! It has 10 screws front to back (from tip to grips) each with a form following & colored plastic cover!
