my Ghetto Rkcsrt driver,and broken diode PHR

Well when i first got my Rkcstr driver, it was good,then when i tried to solder the diode to it,and the little solder point just fell off heres what resulted what i had to do
pics below and also the pic of my broken diode which i cant fix the pins
And dont think Perverted on the last pic : :

i can tell you right now why your diode broke off the pins.

you are not soldering coreectly.

you need to tin your tip of the solder before EVERY joint is soldered. and you need to use flux. and probably some better solder. what kind are you using?

i do solder correctly. the driver broke. the little contacts like just fell off so i had to improvise to save 16$
i use flux also. i use 40/60 alloy rosin core solder .093 Diameter.

i would recommend using some 2% silver solder for surface mount joints like the rckstr has.

your blobs of solder are not very shiny which shows a sign of a lot of corrosion which equals weak joints and usually improper soldering techniques. they need to be shiny. this makes me think maybe your not cleaning your tip right or tinning it prior to soldering.

and i dont think im the only one that would think this.

im in no way ragging on you or trying to put you down. just trying to give you some advice to make this all work better

0.093 solder is quite large in diameter, nearly 1/10th of an inch. For fine work, this is simply too large. The largest solder that I use for electronics is 0.062, used for soldering #14 wire and other larger work. I usually am using 1mm transistor solder, rosin core. This is more appropriate for components and PC board work.
Get thin solder.

How powerful is your gun/iron? For diodes and small components and PC boards like drivers, you don't want high power. 25w is a good iron here. I have 25w, 35w irons and 100/140w weller gun. Gun is for the bigger stuff like large mosfets or BJT's, rectifiers with thick leads, main power wires.

Pads do come off boards if too much heat is applied (too big of solder gun) or heat is applied for too long due to unclean surfaces or inadequate flux. Pads also come off boards if you solder/unsolder wires or components too often. Boards are really meant to be soldered to once. Your board photos show the classic signs of overheat and repeat solder/unsolder operations with too large of a solder wire robbing you of soldering control. As for the amputee diode, good soldering skill could salvage this if it is not also burnt from overheat. (New wire fused to positive stub and glue-reinforced, negative stub solder-blobbed to case.)

They were shiny b4. I have used 5 phr-803t diodes on this one driver ;D

I used a 30 Watt iron,might of been too much :-[

I doubt it, I use a gun too.And mauswiesels iron is just scary.I have no idea how he does anything with that. Btw, I can't believe you killed 10 PHRs!!10!! that's like $200 worth of good bluray diode goodness :'( Oh btw, you can answer multiple people in the same post, and there's an edit button incase you posted nearly at the same time, no need to make a quadruple post. :
