I just got my 532nm 600mW PL-E Pro, and i'm loving it already. But one thing that bothers me is how people describe green lasers at 500mW+ to be super bright. I had a Krypton a while back that had to be around 200mW, and my PL-E Pro honestly doesn't seem any brighter. Of course it's brighter than my Arctic, but it just doesn't seem "really bright" in my opinion. Maybe my eyes just aren't that sensitive to green?

I don't see how your eyes wouldn't be sensitive to 532, as 555nm is the "brightest" wavelength perceived by our human eyes (in other, more correctly-termed words, 555nm is the peak sensitivity for humans). I would say that some internal optics and/or crystals got knocked loose during shipping, or maybe just dead batteries...

If fresh batteries don't make a difference, I would suggest either returning it to the seller, or sending it to someone close by with a LPM to meter it for you, and see if it really is not outputting what it should.

Good luck!

It's not the batteries. It can burn about as quick as my Arctic, so I know that it's much stronger than my Krypton that was only around 200mW. I honestly think it's just my eyes.

Perhaps there is nothing wrong with the laser.

To have a laser that is twice as bright you need four times the power.

If you're still in doubt I would send it to a member to have it LPM'ed

It's really hard to increase the brightness by a ton when over say 200mw. A very respected member told me if a 300mw 532 and a 532 500mW are compared, your average person would say wow they are both bright, rather than one being so much brighter than the other.

A member has his laser on it's way to me now to be metered. I'd be happy to do yours as well. We're not to far away

It's at least 3 times the power of my old Krypton and it even came with an lpm graph, but what i'm getting at is how even though it's strong, it only seems kinda bright, instead of really bright like how everyone else describes it. I'm positive that it has to be my eyes and not the laser.

I highly doubt it could be the "PLE-PRO" if as you stated it burns well it should be fine.

Did you ask Gray for a Power Graph? :yh:

He sent one with the laser. I'm honestly starting to think that maybe my standard of bright is just higher than everyone else's.

Greetings,

More than likely you were just expecting the increase in power would be that much more in brightness.

Maybe you were expecting more so it didn't seem very bright

agreed, it's hard to live up to expectations.

I think that most likely is it,

You can also try and charge the batteries again? My 500mW 532nm uses batteries rapidly. If they are Red then CHARGE THEM!

But even that dosen't make much of a difference :undecided:

I know that going from 200mW to 600mW wouldn't cause a big difference in brightness, it's just that people have been telling me that 500mW+ green lasers are super bright. I'm not seeing super bright. I think that my standards are just too damn high.

Its not just you, and your laser is most likely fine. I had the same thoughts when I first got my 400mw green. If you compare that with a 100 or 200mw side by side (preferably with some ambient light), you will see a difference. I think its just easy to get unrealistic expectations. With mine, it does get much brighter after warming up for a minute though - just something to keep in mind.

As you go up in higher power of 532nm green the beam appears not so much brighter as it is both brighter and much more solid looking.

Does your 600mW have a really nice solid looking beam---it should at that output
