Ok I used it for a day then all it would do is give off a dim red light inside of the laser so I changed the batteries and it did the same thing but then eventually I was holding down the button for a while and it turned green but dimmer a lot dimmer than its suppose to be. Can someone help please?

Would be helpful to know what laser you have. Also, I hope you didn't look straight down into it to see this red glow. If you saw red, it's not IR filtered. and you can't really see IR much at all yet DPSS lasers output it usually in non-eyesafe amounts and in a reasonably low divergence beam. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it's not frying your retina.

Just hazarding a guess, and since you said it still put out some green, I think the driver died and it's not putting out enough IR to drive the crystals (which, if you looked down the bore, is a good thing for your eyeballs)

That or you have a bad connection somewhere.

It sounds like either your driver (the main circuit board) or your diode is worn out. It's just going to be easier to get a new one at this point.

I doubt it's the diode. When diodes die, they don't generally 'come back' at all. He said it started lasing again after a while, but not as bright.

nevermind make that a 5mw green laser

you can pick one of those up from ebay'er wlaser or itemquickship for $8 with shipping. If it is your driver that is bad your gonna spend more fixing it, same goes for the diode.

yeah, if it's a 5mw green. Unless it's in some kind of host your partial to, then just replace the thing. You can get them for less than $10.
