I bought a ebay ; laser today and it is labeled as 1mW on the buying page but actually has no label on the laser itself, and when I use a little lens from a microscope it burns when you focus it right.

LOL.
 





The only thing 1mw can burn is a retina since our lens is very good at what it does- focusing light.

Sustained long enough, I'm sure 1mw of light can still "do work" on someone's retinal cells.
 
Beware that laser could have a large unfiltered IR component. I.E 70-90%.
