As the demand goes up, and the technology becomes more advanced and available, the the price will drop, and has alot since they first came out. But, at least for another year or so, they will remain expensive. Even if they drop soon, it will still be a few hundred, even for 5mW.

Then get a 500mW green one, and when 5 or 6 or more start to confuse all with random points here and there, shine it on a sign saying "QUIET PLEASE" ..... this may be enough for attract all the attention (and fade away all those 5mW red dots going here and there, illuminating in green half of the room .....)

Just kidding, sorry :p :D

But, seriously speaking, you can realize a "pseudo blue" combining the violet and green with a dichro ..... only, is not easy to build it in a pen style pointer, you need to use a box container ..... this if you really need something that look like a blue / cyan pointer, but ofcourse is not a "real" blue beam ..... only, our eyes see it as blue.

there's alot of one laser interrupting another. so sort of.

If they are different colors, that doesn't change the fact that there are two points, and most people cannot look at two dots at once. Maybe they should take turns speaking and pointing ;)

I am pretty sure that is the point of the thread.
The lecturers (or discussion members) want to have different colored laser dots so people understand which person is speaking about which subject.
I have seen this before in college classes with multiple red-pointers and it's pure comedy (and a bit of chaos) to watch. :D

It's no more chaotic than having several people speaking at once. See sig.

Might I suggest the hologram laser tips that make shapes like smiley faces and arrows? Everyone could use a red laser with a different tip.
