New Scientist News: Drones get first anti-laser lasers to stop being shot down. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIwoIua9S0

Here is some more reading material gents as it seems laser beam are beginning to get a lot of attention I would advise everyone to build their collection while they can.. these new "imbeciles" that could soon seriously hinder our white house will not like us hobbyists having anything to do with their technology.

I just don't want to see lasers turn into firearms where permits are required to purchase and registration required to own.

I've had a few  so I would just throw a bottle at a drone over my house and save the laser for other experiments :)

Zap the anti aircraft lasers tracking system with a laser...

Ok, track using radar, use multiple/redundant tracking systems, fire laser manually...

From a fundamental standpoint land based directed energy systems will always trump flying lasers.

We don't need line of sight to detect aircraft so we see them coming.

That puts all aircraft in a "Shoot as you have LOS on it" situation and a higher power land based directed energy system will always trump an airborne one.

The only advantage an aircraft has is "stealth" and yes, an F-22/F-35 has a cross section like a sparrow, however since we can both pick up individual sparrows on mil grade radar AND have software that tells us "this thing doesn't fly like a sparrow" it is a moot point. The directed energy systems don't have the prep time needed for SAM or other conventional anti aircraft.

As long as I can keep my laser pointers and my firearms then we will be fine, let them fight it out in the sky. They will be the one violating our safety soon! Wear your safety goggles outside, govt may blast you thinking you are an anti-aircraft laser user!
