LPM and Safety Goggles in the UK

Hi all,

I am looking for 445nm laser safety goggles that can be worn over glasses. I have seen the Eagle Pair on survivallasers but would prefer to purchase one from the UK purely for shipping times. I know cheap eBay goggles are no good so would like to buy a proper pair of goggles but ones that don't cost too much.

I am also looking to either buy, or buy the parts for, a cheap LPM (parts being for one that can be easily assembled).

Edit: I would only need the goggles to be from the UK as the LPM isn't an urgent purchase,
so any cheap LPMs from any seller that ships to the UK would do.

Well I ordered a laser from TheJoker301 so I could use it to calibrate the lpm. I think I would be more likely to go with the custom build as I don't want to spend too much in the early stages of my interest in lasers. Would it be difficult to build the custom one?

I don't know of any goggle suppliers in the UK, but for the LPM check out the Radiant x4 which is currently $100.

You can also build your own for under $50, but you will need to calibrate it which requires a stable laser with a known output.

The DIY one is not difficult at all, it's a fairly basic non-inverting amplifier circuit with some other stuff thrown in.

You just need to have soldering skills, basic electronics skills and the tools to solder it together, the schematic is already provided by mariomaster :)

Well I have basic soldering skills and a soldering iron I can use to solder the parts together. What skills would I need for the electronics side of it?

Being able to read a schematic and IC pin outs, that's pretty much it.

Okay thanks. I read about an ARGMeter v1.1 Ophir. Are these still available or have they been discontinued?

If you do decide to go with a premade one I own a X4 and couldn't be happier with its performance.

I never managed to find certified goggle suppliers in the UK. I ended up buying from a US company and the postage was almost half the value of the goggles but it was worth it. They're OD 7 and will eat any handheld 445 or 532 for breakfast.

Could you send a link to the goggles?
