Me, Livinloud, and Sinner kind of talked about some sort of "noob team" that forum members could alert when there is a noob who asks some question in the stickies or did absolutely no research. This "noob team" would come to the aid of the noob and give them links to all the stickies, instruction on researching the forum, and how to deal with their issue. We decided it's about time for one of these to deal with the noob issue and after Livinloud had a very annoying encounter with a stubborn and dirty mouthed noob. This noob team will have to know the forum like the back of their hand and be able to deal with stubborn and ignorant noobs effectively.
This is just still an idea but just in case i made a preliminary logo:D

Im sure we can find someone else with better graphic design skills than me:D maybe Stin (i saw some of your LPF logos)

Post any thoughts, additional requirements the noob team should have, and suggestions for noob team members. :thanks:

I suggest the search bar, because there's 6 years of useful info all over this forum..XD

Good idea though, i guess.

Edit: Actually, gave it more thought in the past minute, this IS a good idea

Thanks, even with suggesting the search bar, there have been instances when they are too stubborn to do so or have said they can't find their issue in it.

Yep. But that is mostly because people dont know how to "search"
Which, with the right knowledge, a person can teach a 'noob' how to search.
This is why this is such a good idea :)

Edit: Speaking of which, the search bar should be put back at the top of the forum!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, this forum has an incredible amount of information available by searching the forums. One tip that I think is helpful is utilizing google search. Basically just googling it will usually result in an answer which in most cases is provided by this forum. Another way you can google is by typing in: "site:laserpointerforums.com 'type your search here"

I like this idea too, but I feel like a community as a whole should help out. And mods are also there to help too.

and yea i feel the same way that it should be a community effort but once the community has tried to deal with them and they continue to be stubborn, someone will click on the noob team button (next to their report and rep buttons) so the noob team can deal with the issue to prevent any annoyance to the members.

Great idea, I would love to take part in this team.

I'll try to answer noob questions as much as I can without spoon feeding them.

Great! i thought you might enjoy joining something like this. nothing is really offical(as you can see) but im hoping to get some more volunteers or supporters

I'm doing that for a while now, going as far as putting the blue line which you see in my signature and sending PM to members when I want to warn them about something they shouldn't be doing.

No matter how stupid or un-researched the question was, I always believed in providing a straight answer, sometimes it's just way too shorter than berating the member and telling him "to use the search bar".

About the noob team, IMO it is a good idea. Some sticky could be made with names of members that the newbies could PM right when they start their "welcome" thread.

This is a good idea, a mod could make it so when that picture is posted in a thread, one of the members of the noob team could be notified via email. If that is even possible of course, it is just an idea. I can only imagine how annoying i would have been as a noob. I vote for the search bar to be put back at the top as well. Hope this works out :beer:

If someone post on the sticky, the members (subscribed) would receive a notification email. The system is there already :beer:

It's not a bad idea, your just helping people, but you might as well just call it the spoon feed team because that's pretty much all you'll end up doing.
