Looking for the shortest laser I can find.

I'm planning a build that requires a host that is no more than 1.5" long and .5" wide; if necessary, some parts could hang out of the host. Does anyone know where I could find, or how I could build, such a laser? I'd prefer it if the beam were visible, but if that's not possible, I'll be alright.

That's tiny, what kinda diode/driver/module are you going to be using?

That's just ever so barely enough to fit a 12mm module, but isn't even as long as a 10440 cell. What kinda battery(ies) are you going for? button cells?

Unless this isn't high powered, such as a presentation pointer. If not, there's already keychain pointers that are just about the size you mentioned maybe smaller.

Adjusted 30mw 650nm Red Laser Diode Dot Line Cross Module w/ Driver In 3-5V | eBay - Was thinking something along these lines.

Button cells are preferred; and I'd like the power high enough to be able to see the beam, but not powerful enough to burn anything.

Is this one small enought for you--286mW red?? See: http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-tiny-titanium-key-chain-kit-red-48899.html

PS Don't post multiple threads on same topic---you already have another one running --frowned upon--waste of LPF bandwith

I have seen that one, but the price scared me away.

And what do you mean? My other post was made regarding a green laser.

Scared you? Is pretty much as good as it gets--286mW red, good battery, small durable host----not sure if the host is still available--you would be lucky if he has a few left.

Is not likely you can do any better than that---is a quality pointer, high output, good battery, durable Ti host, small form factor.

Green? Not that one-lol >>>this one You say "small build red" post #3 here: http://laserpointerforums.com/f50/what-power-will-allow-visible-beam-100057.html

Anyway --good luck

PS maybe you can figure out how to put a laser diode in this 1.47 inch Streamlight host or see if "jarob" who designed the micro TI pointer can modify for you--see: https://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-73001-Miniature-Keychain-Flashlight/dp/B0011UIPIW/ref=zg_bs_3180301_2/168-2927753-3535666?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=R7N1SG1R3VANA6ES9XK5

Only smaller laser I've seen was one built by RHD, remember his ring laser?

Edit: Found it

Whoa! Now that is cool. What batter is he running do you know?

He had to find really small LiPo batteries that fit in the actual ring part of the ring. Not sure where he found them.

You can see them in this image:

He had someone make those batteries to order to get that size.

I've built a laser in to a host just like that one, it wasn't Streamlight branded, but the same design and size.
The ones I built probably aren't really what the OP is looking for since mine used one of those small, cheap <5mW 650nm modules that are about $2 ea.
Here's a -Link- to the thread I made on my build a long time ago. :)

That is a awesome build right there. That's a piece of art. That would be something to own. :gj:

I think I've decided upon buying a diode/driver/module from DTR, fitting that into a heatsink, and attaching it all to a 16340 battery.

Could someone link me to that thread? I scoured the forums for it and couldn't seem to find it.

Really don't understand what thread you want?
