Hey all,
So curiosity is getting the better me and I'm beginning to really want to know the output powers of my handhelds. I'm in the need to get a laser power meter. It seems that the radiant x4 is the cheapest actual LPM available for $100. Are there any other alternatives? I realize there's a DIY infrared thermometer but I'm too lazy to get all the parts much less to assemble it. If somebody wants to sell one please let me know :D
Thanks for reading!
Jason

I think the X4 is the cheapest accurate option. Mine has been great so far.

So the Radiant X4 I bought ran out of stock four days after I paid. I'm in a somewhat urgent need to get a LPM. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I would recommend checking if there are any used LPM's in the B/S/T or on ebay.

Other than that you're probably looking at +$200 for a new LPM.

If your somewhat urgent need can wait a couple of months I have heard that Radiant has a new LPM in the works.

Do you have any ARGMeters for sale?

The DIY meters work quite well. Calibrating them is the only problem. No more ARGMeters for sale, sorry :(

What approximate powers are you trying to measure?

3rd link looks like it doesn't come with a thermopile.
2nd link looks good, appears to be minor thermopile damage.
1st link looks oddly similar to this Sper Scientific Laser Pocket Power Meter | eBay

Most of the time LPM's from ebay will still be within spec, even if the service sticker says it is due for a calibration.

I like my Radiant X4 so far. It's rated for "only" 3.7 watts maximum, but were you planning on building something exceeding that? I bought mine with a case and selected priority mail shipping, so total cost was 116 dollars. That's a pretty good deal.

Yeah, the Radiant X4 is perfect for me. (My max is ~3.2W) Unfortunately, Illumination Supply has ran out of them. :cryyy: So trying to figure out an alternative without spending 200+
