Keep in mind it is actually still dangerous for your eyes. They are overspec by a good amount and anything over 5mW can damage sight on a direct hit or a concentrated reflection. While the lower output may not cause instant noticeable damage like a high output may it will cause damage over time and should be avoided by taking preventative measures. That being said, those little pens are not quite powerful enough to require wearing goggles at all time when in use indoors unless you are at risk of a direct hit or reflection.

Never underestimate the damage a laser can cause to your eyes. Taking a risk just isn't worth it.

I agree. You should never point a laser near your face or anyone else. That laser I linked is a class 3a, so damage to your eye is possible if it hits your eye, or is reflected into your eye. A 30-50mW is much more dangerous though. If your eye comes in contact with a laser this power, it can really damage your eye. Either way, be safe when using lasers!

Its never a bad idea to wear goggles and you would have to be completely nuts not to at least own a basic pair if you own any laser over 5mW. If you don't think you need them because you are careful and know what you are doing then my suggestion is to sell your lasers and find a new hobby :D

I am buying an Eagle Pair. You have to be insane to not wear safety glasses with high powered lasers. If you don't, well then you wouldn't be able to read this :p

Eagle Pair goggles have quite a good reputation if you have the cash for em you can't go wrong.

I was originally going to get glasses from dragonlasers, but now that i am getting a 1.4W laser I knew I had to get some high quality specs. Spending the extra $15 is definitely worth keeping your eyesight haha

Make sure anyone in the room with you has goggles as well. You may want to look into getting a pair or two of the ones I have in my signature for friends to use when you use the laser. They work very well even with my 3W 445nm.

I saw these before and was planning on buying the Eagle Pair for my self, then buying these and testing them out by shooting a laser into them (while wearing my Eagle Pair). I will definitely have to order a pair or two of them.

I have already shot my lasers at them directly and they can take a direct hit for a quite respectable length of time (10 seconds+ or so with a 2W 445nm). Far more than you should ever need to worry about with direct hits.

That a bit of a bummer. Last night when i left my last comment i thought we reached the zenith with this, and gone ahead and ordered one from Meritline (17$ delivered - i'll let you guys know how it is once it arrived).

Well, i don't think i'll be wearing glasses a lot, in the end i don't intend to point it at anything else but the sky.

I have never heard of that site. I guess its not much of a risk anyway for that price. I honestly wouldn't expect it to be on spec though.

I did search the forum before buying, and some actually bought from them and it seemed satisfying.

Another person in another topic warned that they may take over a month to ship, but i had a friend in china and non of my packages ever arrived in less than 3 weeks, so i don't think it's a reason to be concerned.

A little under-spec wouldn't matte, judging from what has been said so far it seems to be fine as long it's over 30mW. Well, i picked them because they had SSL and Paypal.
