for my future 445 nm build.

Silvershot, you should use the aurora... the c6 Cree does not have the battery contact PCB to solder to.

Actually, it's not difficult to make your own PCB with contact, if not, you can use AMC7135 flashlight drivers, desolder components and use them as blank PCBs (or even use AMCs as driver, reds and greens work well with lithium ion batteries with AMC),
Hell, if nothing else, just drill out the emitter place and extend a spring from the driver to touch the battery.

Connections are least of your worries in such quality host, I've done all kind of improvisations in C6.

Yeah.. or for $5 more you get a pcb ready to go.... I dunno for me the less things to modify/go wrong is well worth the extra $

pretty much what hapens is when i try to modify the host i usually kill it. i have given up on the ones with the bulb LED hosts have a nice contact pcb.

Folks, isn't pathfinding on your own and improvisation what makes this part of the hobby?
Building lasers, use what you have, make a laser that is working nicely.

For that 5$, Bob, you can get AMC drivers which will serve you well when you need them, you never know when you need 350mA with 120mV drop out - you can connect them in parralel for larger current, up to 4x ICs on single PCB (1400mA).
AMC drivers see a lot of use in my room, I used 2x AMC to drive my 100mW green C6.
And they are made on contact PCB as it is - only one problem is that PCB is made to fit the pill but the outter, CASE connection is negative , so you must isolate whatever you are powering, from the case.

Way around it is etching your own PCB to get the components case positive since AMC7135 is negative side regulator.

Well, I went to use the bloody thing and found the organization, well... . At the risk of being a Sook, I reckon it would probably be more interesting ordered by battery type, followed closely by size (thickness, particularly the head-section for heatsinking capability).

It's just me good oil... dinkum, m8


p.s. The Socceroos are like vegemite toast for breakfast m8, some days it's better than others...

Be aware that when you just get a host that says 'shell casing', it does not have the round board for the battery contact...

But if you have the right size board from another host, you can use that easy enough. Or make your own...

yeah its not to hard to etch a round PCB, i did it to fix one of my hosts

I have to go through my school's machine shop. More often than not they don't have the aluminium needed and it's impossible for me to go buy metre-long chunks.

do u know the CSIRO?? go there give them dimensions (my pop works there) they will haily make you some just be sure to tell them its something complicatingly science related

Mine's an old Atlas lathe. It's a good quality lathe made in U.S.A.

It's old though.... I got it for $250 dollars in pieces at a flee market. Put it all together and it worked perfectly!

For those cheap ones, you can check Harbor Freight... (it's going to be more than $90 dollars though)
