Im not interested in something that can burn a hole though things or put other people at risk. I just want something reliable that i know will always work when i put fresh batteries in it. I want it to be green, with a visible beam in the dark and also during the day. I bought one from Ebay and it always starts off dim, and then goes bright within a second or two, which leads me to believe one day soon it will not be bright anymore at all. Here is what i am seriously considering getting. The Laserglow Lyra. Its $49, and claims to be IR filtered with APC.

Is there any difference between getting the 3.0mw-5.0mw model besides an extra $10? Someone told me the difference wouldnt even be visible.....

You'll be very happy with the Laserglow Lyra. So, I'd go for that. Laserglow's stuff is excellent. If they claim APC, IR Filtering and stable output -- it will be.

The difference between 3.0 and 5.0mW? Well.. At that output it might be visible. You're talking 40% more power, at that low of a level. So I'd just spend the extra $10.

At 5mW you are not going to see the beam in daylight. Maybe not even at night, at that power it depends heavily on ambient conditions. There is no doubt Laserglow is good stuff, but you should also check out Optotronics. If you want to see the beam at night, for less than $10 more you can get IR filtered 30mW. Jack is a member of this forum and very reliable. He has 5mW too for less than LG.

You are looking for something then with a feed back system like the laser glow apc. Z-Bolt also makes lasers with a similar system.

Here are some options i would recommend
Z-Bolt: z-bolt.com
laserglow.com
novalasers.com
optotronics.com
