Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

why so expensive? 50mW of single mode BASICALLY 445 for 20 times the price? not making much since to me

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

Does anyone besides myself wonder what's inside one of Mitsubishi's LaserVue LCD TVs?
I remember some rumours about amongst other things, a big array of 635nm diodes....
I've been googling superficially but couldnt' seem to find any hard technical info.
Wouldn't you love to rip one apart though (5~6000$)?:eg:
EDIT:Oh, look:

The 5.6mm 445nm diodes were $500 the evening before someone discovered the KasEO source ;)

I'm sure they're still incredibly expensive to buy as one-offs from Nichia.

It's got to be 635. Look here:
Mitsubishi LaserVue L65-A90: First Tech Review of LASER HDTV-HD GURU Exclusive | HD Guru

At this:
mitsubishi-laservue-l65-a90-sprectal-output-410.jpg

Assuming that blue is ~ 445 or 450nm
Assuming that green is 532nm DPSS

That's a gap of aprox 80-90 nm
The gap between BLUE and RED is only slightly larger. So 532 + 80 would be 612. 532 + 100 would be 632.

But it would take a gap of 130nm to push that red into the 660nm realm. If the gap from blue to green is 80 or 90, the gap to red is not 130.

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

Yep - thanks to photoshop - it has to be 635 or lower... assuming we're looking at 532 and 450 for the other colours.

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

I think it may be 625-630nm. It's not that much higher than the green.

It's hard to tell really. There's no way of knowing if that superimposed scale is correct as far as placement and linearity or not.

My bet is 635 or in the 640's somewhere.

Admittedly a low tech approach ;)
Two wildcards, with blue diodes ranging from 440 to 455 according to specs, and the potential for the green to perhaps be a diode.

Haven't said that, it's pretty clear that we're not looking at 660 :)

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

660 isn't a bad choice IMHO. It's a fairly awesome red. It just lacks brightness per mW.

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

I like a bright 694.3 nm, but that's ruby solid state of course. :)

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

Minor correction: the Farnell link I posted is not an announcement, it's an eshop link, but it costs about $1000 so the Osram 450nm is not R but E.
