Default Line pointer for red colorblind wargamer

So I have a dilemma that I cannot find an answer for on the internet so I figured I would ask people more in the know than me about lasers.

I am a miniatures wargamer and one of the useful tools for us are pointers that create a straight line on the surface. I would like to invest in one but my dilemma is that I'm also red deficient in my color vision so I have extreme difficulty seeing the lines on the red ones everyone uses. I can find plenty of line lasers of other colors on the net the info I can't find is which ones won't have adverse effects on models/playspace. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a line pointer that adheres to the following. over a few second (up to 10) a pointer that won't discolor the paints on the models (acrylic usually), won't discolor/burn the table mats (mousepad/cardgame playmat material), won't burn/melt plastics, and isn't red or is at least a bright red that someone with a moderate red deficiency can see easily.

Thank you in advance.

Nice thing with having a line generating optic on the laser is that it decreases the power density significantly at any sort of distance from the aperture, meaning the risk of burning or damaging anything is much lower.

This is probably what you're looking for: 5MW Green Laser Pointer Pen 532NM Bright Green 2 in 1 Line Engineering Laser

Can't comment on the quality, won't be great, but should be reasonable for $9. Takes standard batteries too. The output may be more than the "eye safe" 5mW that's stated, so keep that in mind.

I can't see a <5mW laser that has a difused
Laser line damaging any painted objects.

It would have been nice if you could introduce
yourself to the Forum community and include
your location so that members can more easily
point you to seller in your area.

That particular pointer has a tactile switch, or what is know as you have to hold it down to make contact. There are others that can be turned on and later turned off. I don't know if this makes a difference, but I thought you should know as it might.

When I'm testing Laser pens with those momentary
tactile switches... I attach a Ty-Rap around the
barrel and slide it onto the button. The Ty-Rap not
too tight mind you.

On small hosts i use clothes line clippers on the button, seems to work well too and prevents them from rolling around at the same time.

As far as line generation goes: any low power green laser would would just as well with the line generating optic, as would a low power single mode blue laser. I doubt that at these power levels they'd do damage to any plastics, though they may cause things like gluess and paints to set a bit faster depending on composition.

Yeah... That's a good idea also...
I'll have to try that next time.
