Which lasers should I buy?

Hello.

This is the first time I'm buying a laser and my budget is around 40 bucks. Here in sweden the maximum effect that is allowed is 5mW, but I want something that has a visible beam and being able to pop balloons..

So, this is what I want:
3-5 lasers with 5mW, and which I will then pot mod like 3-4 of them to sometihng like 100mW max, because I don't want it to be EXTREMELY dangerous. And why 3-5 lasers? Because I want different colors..

Or, do you have any other suggestions of what I can do?

The most things I want to do with my lasers:
Pop balloons, melt snow(maybe), have a visible beam(at night atleast) and for showoff in school(thats why I dont want an extremely dangerous one).

Reasons why I want 3-4 lasers is because I want color variety, I love the color blue, purple, green, but I don't think red is so good because the fact that on all youtube vids they say that the beam is not even visible at night if not more then 100mW, and I most, most of all want my lasers to show the beam and pop balloons.

If I am not mistaken, snow is highly reflective, and any laser with enough power to burn also has more than enough power to boil your eye like an egg. Now, I live in Texas, so I don't see much snow, but from the times I have, I believe it was very reflective.

Skip the snowpart then, but can you give me a tip of some lasers?

If your laser can pop balloons, don't take it to school. And I wouldn't advise potmodding, that's a good way to kill the laser. Have you considered building your own?

Building your own would definitely be the route to go if their are strict import restrictions in your country. I built a 200mW red laser without any trouble at all and it cost me a total of less than 30 dollars. I would suggest either a red or a violet build. Do a search for PHR to find the violet. It can go up to about 100-120mW If you want something higher than that, a 6X can go up to roughly 180mW(IIRC)

Okay, then skip the balloon part.

Then I just want something with a pretty strong, visible beam with a pretty far distance, however doesn't have to be really strong. (That'd mean popping balloons if focused long?) So any tips for that then?

If you are set against building one for whatever reason, buy a couple of 5mW Greens(532nm) and/or 5mW Violets(405nm) from ebay. A lot of the times they are powered higher around 50-70mW and that will pop balloons. The 405's will be very dim, however the greens will be nicely visible. Not to mention they are sold as 5mW so your country should be fine with them.

Could you provide me with some links with good sellers and cheap prices? And if possible, maybe some other colour to, like blue or red?

I spy a search bar....

Sorry friend, but this is the point where you are gonna have to do some searching. Search on the forum, I guarantee there is a huge thread devoted to good ebay 405 pointers. And good green pointers. Search on ebay. Look for trusted sellers. Look for a price point of about 10 dollars or less. If you find sellers and what to know if they are good, then come back and post. Also, little hint: LPF's favorite ebay seller of cheap 405's operates out of Baton Rouge, LA.

I did a search but couldn't find anything here on the forums. Yes, I see a lot of lasers on ebay, but I don't know which one of those which is actually over 5mW, because they must write that it is 5mW or less, else they can't sell it. So, please, could you tell me which of those can get over 5mW, or if there is any thread(which i couldn't find), please tell me that :p

Look for one that will ship to you, some of the sellers only ship to the US and Canada.

I have took a look at his ebay page and his sales, it says:
Ship Fast From USA
but it also says:
Free shipping, and then it says to: United states...

and it also says "Shipping unspecified", what does all of these mean?
And also, how does eBay work when buying items, do you pay first or do you pay when the item arrives?

It's just like any other web site you pay for it before you get it. If you have questions for tha seller on E-bay there is a link where you can ask he seller a question.

The swedish sites here in Sweden often has a option where you can pay upon getting the product, reason why I don't buy lasers from sweden, 5mW blue laser here costs 100$ - 1000$ (most often 600+) Yes, that is HELLA lot compared to 1$ at ebay.

There's no blue laser for 1$ on ebay.
Only BluRay/Violet (405nm) ones for maybe 1$ + 7$ shipping...

Proper "blue" (445nm, 473nm) lasers easily cost hundreds of $$$.
