Laserbtb laser stopped at customs

Hi. It's since over a month that I've been waiting for my laserbtb laser ordered by Air mail. Although it arrived to my country in a quite short time (about 14 days), it's still being processed by the customs.

On April 14th the laser was accepted at the sort facility, and on April 24th it was sent to the customs, where it is now. I hope that the laser will be out as soon as possible, but the postal service is very bad and I'm getting worried. I've already contacted them and I'm waiting for an answer, meanwhile I have to ask you a question.

If the laser does not arrive (maybe because they see that's not what it's declared to be), or if it arrives broken or damaged (maybe because they open it to understand what it is) or if I have to pay some taxes or even a fine (again because they declared it is a flashlight), will I be refund by laserbtb?

I really hope the laser will arrive intact, I cannot believe I may have lost my money :cryyy:
And I know, I should have chosen DHL Express shipping, but it costed a lot more.
It's soo annoying to think that it took 14 days from Hong Kong and that it's being kept at a few kilometers from my home for more than one month! I'm getting really angry. I'll never choose air mail shipping again!

You should contact laserbtb and tell them you never received your package.

Am sure they will not give you a refund but they may send you a replacement package. They said they would do that in LPF groups buys---not sure what the policy is a moment.

Contact them and find out .

If it has been more than 30 since they sent it I would contact them now !
and you said it the Italian postal service leaves something to be desired so I
guess next time it may be worth it to go DHL or UPS or something other than the IPO.

Good Luck...

Yeah i hear italy has some of the worst customs check in europe or so, they are very slow and who knows what they will do if they think its a laser there, but either way you are cowered if it should not arrive.

Kevin told me that I should call the customs and ask them for information, and that they shouldn't have blocked my package since there's nothing illegal in it. I'm quite sure they won't be able to give me further information, however there's no harm in trying.

If there is problem they will send you a mail home or whatever or just take the package , you should just wait and see better.

^^ This. I'll just wait either for the laser or for a mail from the customs.

UPDATE:
Currently I'm not at home, but my brother just called me saying that he received a "weird mail from customs" addressed to me. I'm sooo worried, and I can't wait to arrive home this evening to see what they say.
I bet the laser was blocked, so I hope that Kevin will send me another one (yes, this time with DHL express shipping!). I'll let you know.

Ok, I just arrived home and I got the letter. This is more or less what is says:

"Dear Customer,
we are sorry to tell you that the good addressed to you was stopped by the Customs Agency since it is forbidden to sell laser pointers with class equal or higher than 3 over this country, unless they are sold for specific professional uses. If this good was sold for a specific professional use please send us a release written on letterhead from the society where it will be used."

I'm so disappointed... I really didn't know that class 3 lasers can't be sold in this stupid country! What do you think I should do? Will laserbtb refound me? Is there anything I could do?

You were not selling a laser --not sure what what that letter means---you need to look into the Italian law meanings. Import is prohibited also is what the letter means, I would guess.

I doubt laserbtb will refund you however they may send you a replacement package.

You should scan tha letter and email a copy to Kevin and ask him.

PS see post #53 here --it give link to the Italian law http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/warning-italy-has-decided-ban-lasers-47278-7.html

I translated the letter by myself, so sorry if it wasn't clear. It just means that lasers cannot be commercialized in my country.

But if they send me a new laser with DHL express shipping, won't it be stopped again at customs? Sorry, I don't know exactly how it works, but I don't think DHL can "skip" customs right? And yeah, stupid customs... I have contacted Kevin, waiting for an answer.

all i know is that italian customs suck but its your lastchance getting one through customs, if that also will get stopped then you are ouf of luck i guess :( It all depends if stuff from regular mail and fedex or dhl go through same customs not sure..

write to them you want it shipped again fedex, dhl or whatever and hopefully you get it this time.
