Laserbee LPM?

Hey,
I have bought a laserbee LPM and I have cased it and it works very well, however I have found no use for the buttons (I know you need them for calibration, but I'm never going to do that) so there is no access to the buttons outside my case. What I wanted to know was, are there any other uses for the buttons I don't know about?

Why don't you just ask the seller what the buttons are for.
Did you get it with the data logging feature.
Do you have any photos of your build.
So many questions, not enough time. ;D

The buttons are for calibration. You can always take it apart if you ever need to re-calibrate it.

Mine are enclosed inside the box:

I have one too, and I am aware of no other use that you would have for them. By the way, how about a few pictures. :

I have to put mine in an enclosure still, and I am interested in what you did. Also Laserbee would welcome an E-mail to him about it.

As far as I know, it can't. But the buttons are there incase you should ever want to recalibrate it with another meter, or if you ever send it back to Jerry for upgrades etc.. he may need to recalibrate it for you after the upgrades. He upgraded mine with the data logging feature just last week, and also recalibrated it to another (more accurate) LPM while he had it there.

I will send pics tomorrow, but I warn you, it's not pretty. It has hot glue in bits it shouldn't and holes melted with a soldering iron. On the flipside, it does it job flawlessly, and has rubber feet.

The consensus on LPF is that the coating on the sensor is high temp black paint.
If the coating on the sensor is repeatedly damaged by a focused high power laser or
badly scratched, (IMO) I can see that the calibration could to go off (IMO).
At that point it would probably need re-coating and recalibration.

OR

If you accidentally hit the buttons and you recalibrate it without the proper equipment
to some unknown value.

You did a nice clean job on your Laserbee box. That data cable connector
on the outside of the box was a good idea. I saw the Andover LPM-1 has the
data connector in the battery compartment :-?

Thanks, but I can't take credit for the data cable plug idea.. The guy who sells the Laserbee came up with it. I thought it was a pretty good idea too.

He also made the nicest Laserbee enclosure that I've seen so far.. Check it out:

RattleHead, could you share where you got that project box from, after seeing everyone else's boxes, mine now looks horribly inadequate so I think I'm going to re-do it. Also, how did you cut the hole for the LCD so neatly?

I got it from RadioShack. I cut the hole for the LCD with a dremel & small cutting disk. If its still a little rough you can use some black electrical tape to make a neat little frame around the hole (mine has that too).

Hey RattleHead, you did a nice job; it is very clean and functional looking. The only suggestion I would make and it's a minor one if you don't mind; but I think it will add more appeal to the looks.

I'd change the label tape to Black tape with White letters, or Black tape with Gold letters; then it would look almost as if you print on the case itself. I did this myself in the past and you'd be surprised what a difference in looks it makes.

Thanks, but the one in the last 3 pictures isn't mine (the first pic in this thread is mine).. It belongs to the owner of Laserbee. I agree though, would look better with dark tape and white letters.
