Thanks for the MAC input guys...
I'm a old DOS and Windows type of user...
The LaserBee I software was written for us by someone
else and as such have no source code.
I believe the .EXE software was written in Visual Basic...
and it outputs an RS232 Data Stream... The Data protocol
I do have.. In Windows I can pick up the Data using the
Windows supplied Hyper Terminal program...
We use an RS232 to USB converter + Win Driver to run on
a Windows USB only PC.

I will be able to build a Test Module and perhaps you guys
can tell me if it is possible to read the data stream on a Mac..

The other solution would be to start from scratch and write a
Mac Program for the LaserBee I data Logging...

IMHO that seems like a sound plan to me. Also, if it's not possible to run the program under wine or successfully in a VM, it's possible that there would be a program freely available for mac that can interpret the LaserBee data stream...I will do some looking for such a program and Jerry or someone else can use a mac to see if it works with the LaserBee data.

Is there something like Visual Basic or similar for designing
programs for the Mac...
Roddenberry send me a link to a software package but I haven't
had time to look at it... let alone hookup my new MAC...

I'd say the most comparable thing is Apple's Cocoa API: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocoa_(API)
It's not as "simple" as VB6, but it's a lot more versatile. I think the best bet is either finding a way to make the current program rune in wine, or finding a graphing program compatible with the LaserBee data output.
