So i have this sitting around and was like lets build it.
so i added a red led and a small 22K so i tested it i can use over 12V and the led still works at 1.65V,And i added the Laser Diode(NDB7675) Works Perfect HuHu See Images A Still Did Not Get The 2 NEW EFEST IMR 10440, I Will Get It In 1/2 Days I Tested the unit using a wall adapter works perfect :yh:
See Images all builds are different option i did

Wow that was amazing, so I'm guessing that the led would lot brighter with 3.7v's batteries, if I'm correct. So, how did you do it exactly? (I'm guessing you cut the Aixiz module back off and soldered the neg wire to it). And the adhesive is for a good fit. I like how you kept the aperture cap because it looks greate and not having to focus your laser every time you accidently unfocus it.

Nice build and 1+ rep for you,

Thanks,

HI AL<
Just love those pens i built one with a PLTB450B and it's awesome. I have two more coming from Laser 66 any day now. In them will be a 520nm and a 638nm. sweet build with the led indicator.

@lifetime17, nice laser, these are "true" pen style hosts, If only Will would reply more, i would buy all his hosts.

So, I found someone on EBAY who sells those small LEDs and I am currently looking at this 100 lot of white LEDs but the owner said I can pick 50white 25green and 25 blue, any idea if these would work? (Too big?). If you can make a schematic of where to solder and the resister I would buy the led and resister now.

Thanks,

Nice, I have some although I have yet to build one with an LED in it yet. Pain in the butt to do it. Crazyspaz built a couple with the lights and just sold them. Haven't used the front cap on any of mine as they are all focusable.

Hi Pman,
I use the front focus cap. i take a dremel and cut the brass threads off. This makes the cap thinner in hight and the i wrap teflon around the lens. Push the lens in it seats just enough to get a great focal length and the module is just pushed back a little further from the front of the host. It performs well and looks good.

I got this host like 2 days ago, just ordered one more, the LED will need minimum of 6V to be bright the voltage at 6V will be 1.4V On the led tested, using 9V the led's power will be around 1.7V,i also tested it on 12V the led's power stays at 1.8V
RED SMD LED 1.8mm From Radioschake around $1.20
the small led can handle up to 2.4V MAX, i did not use adhesive, i only used solder to hold it stronger nothing is cut / i only cut the adapter see image after straightening it perfect, and i cut the adapter it was so hard to fit since it was not round so i used and grind down around the cut focusing and i try pushing it in and it was very tight i can not pull it out anymore, the brown paste is a Arctic paste, :yh:
Jersagfast the led is to big it will not work.
i got the red available colors are in R/G/B/Y/W/P/V

on all of my builds I stabilize the driver with 5 minute epoxy against the diode press sink in each corner. You don't want to take a chance of it twisting or coming out of position when inserting or by putting pressure on it with the batteries. I even do that on all my 532nm modules. You could use Arctic Alumina but it's a waste of $ in my opinion with bigger bottles of epoxy being so cheap. In fact, the tubes of epoxy they sell at Harbor Freight are even decent. You can of course stabilize between the driver and switch board too (I do that also with these pen builds. Takes some work trying to get everything perfectly aligned so the button can be pressed properly. I still have some of those pens (don't want to sell them) awaiting some special builds.
The Efest 10440 are the best batteries you can find for that size to my knowledge and they test well in comparison to the normal blue "fire" ones. Was glad I found them as the "fire" ones are not so great.

AL, you do stay busy with this hobby. Nice build. The only time I used LEDs on my switch was about three years ago when I was experimenting with a different handheld package. I used a small aluminum box to put it and a fan into. At that time I didn't have all the tools I do now, so it was a bit rough. But, I ramble. :)

Good idea. I never bothered trying to use the front cap on any of mine, never thought to just cut the sticky-outty bit off :D One of the few lasers I am keeping is my ~200mW single mode 450 pen, maybe I will put a cap on that one. It really does make it look nice.

hi CS,
Yes it does make it look nice. And it's a simple fix modification. Mine works like a dream Cut the threads off apply teflon to the lens screw in the lens and push the module back to a preferred depth ... Done I'm glad you like the mod and now we can use the original lens cap.. And the best part is you can still change the lens if you prefer..

Hey i don't mind waiting at all in the mean time build something else. Will 66 is fast enough with his delivery for me and replies. i ordered chrome with no hole he got back to me in a few days to say he had no hole chromes. after that email conversation they were shipped. So i'm happy with his customer service. Like i said find another build in the mean time..

HI Alex,
A 462nm pen nice what;s the driver set to?? If it's set to 1.8A watch the duty cycle real close . When you get it PLM it cause between 1.6 and 2W's it gets hot fast if it's a really efficient diode. 462nm is sweet don't loose it there's no significant heat sinking but the CU module .
Awesome purchase have fun, i built another PLTB450B pen tonight ,LPMed it and it read 2300mW's + at 1.8mA heated the build in 15 seconds. So i tore it back down not to kill it. I'll put that in a regular host with better sinking. Well That's a sweet pen you have with a led congrats Pal..

Didn't know he had those no hole chromes. Will order soon. Did you get his website to work? Every time I buy host with switch pcb it says the website has an error.
