Hey guys,

I do not know if this has already been posted but there is a laser wiki up! Lasers Wiki

It is under development, but still has quite a few pages on some of our favorite laser diodes, drivers, lpms etc. The information is also pretty detailed and is really useful.

If someone here made this site please post here so I can rep you!

I started it almost a year ago. Hoped to have a page for every diode and every driver before launch, but there's still quite a bit more to go. The driver section is 90% complete.

If anyone wants the password to edit a page it is "light". I had to implement this after 500 or so spam pages were created. I'll be adding captcha in soon. You won't have to enter this if you create an account :)

Great a wiki about lasers! Was always hoping for one. Are you planning for it to be strictly encyclopedic, or is it sort of free, as in you can make a page about tutorials, for example?

If anyone can contribute, I would like to make some graphical designs for the home page. It's very bland. Let's get this thing going (well, it's already going, you know what I mean).

We could have a photo gallery for the diodes. Showing what each diode produces at the suggested current.

In the wiki page you could incorporate a donations banner so that if people were helped by its presence they could donate to LPF for all the info. It would be a good way to passively spoonfeed people too lol.

There used to be a laser-related wiki at lasers.wikia.com several years ago, but it's now returning a 404 error, and nobody seems to know what happened to it.

If anyone could take a look at the list of drivers / list of diodes and tell me what's missing that would be a great help :)

I'm going to try to work on this more and get all the drivers + all the diodes done.

While I don't have enough experience to add anything at the moment (still working on my first real projector and not really doing handhelds) I'd like to suggest for someone to do a "Typical Handheld Build"-tutorial.
Think along the lines of mentioning the basic components for a handheld, what they're called, where they go, etc etc. (I still don't know what a "pill" refers to or what to do with diode presses, but I'll admit I haven't asked or looked for it either since I don't *need* to know )
I think this would make it a lot easier for new enthousiasts to get into the hobby with minimal need of asking questions and spread searches. On the other hand, it'll also make the hobby more accessible for 'lazy' people. Up to you guys what you want.

That would be cool however I do not feel too comfortable for 'lazy' people/young kids being able to create high powered lasers that they can use to blind/seriously hurt someone with. There is also no "set" way to make a laser. Unless you are referring to a, batteries, driver, diode, lense, heatsink kind of laser. Those are the diode pumped ones most like to make here. Lasers are hard to make in a good way IMO.
