Hello,

I have been reading through the forum and found some very interesting posts and was curious if anyone on the forum has any experience with exposing different plants to different lasers. I have studied the subject and eventually would like to research it and maybe to build some lasers to test different theories. Any information anyone has would be much appreciated.

Hmmm this is very interesting to me as well! I never thought about it or heard any info in general about this. Further research is needed! I will follow up!

they may be similar to LED grow lights, i think if you have a couple of different wavelengths of red and a couple different wavelengths of blue you may get some interesting results, including 405nm as one of the blues aswell because they like UV (dont know exactly what wavelength) but 405 is pretty much the only UV here, ill be very keen to follow this thread if you are going to do some tests! anyway good luck

I imagine it would work the same as an LED grow light system, in which case the best wavelengths for photosynthesis would be a 445 nm blue and a red thats 638-650 nm.

Usually the LED's are in the power range of 1-10 watts depending on the number used, so I don't know how cost effective and how effective over all a laser would be over an LED.

The one advantage I could imagine though would be that you have more control of the beam and could create a more focused area of light that could potentially result in a higher amount of light per area per unit of energy.
