Laser for squirrel hunting?

Guys, I am new to lasers. I am wanting a laser that I can carry when squirrel hunting. This will be used to point up into trees during daylight hours. I need something that can be seen by others. I often hunt in pairs and it will be useful to be able to show my hunting partner where in the tree I last saw the squirrel . I was thinking a green laser for visibility. Can anyone help shed some lighT on this. What power laser would I need, etc? Thanks in advance.

The ebay lasers should be fine for that. Maybe not a pen, but the ones that look like small flashlights. 532 nm 5mw military 5 miles. Use those keywords in your search. The dot of a green laser can be seen in daylight without having to be very strong.

Yeah I got "lucky" months back with an ebay pen that's beam is visible in the day. I don't know for sure but aren't squirrels scared of lasers? Some birds are but I don't know about lasers.

I have been looking at the Optotronics lasers, mayb 50mw. I assume that this would be plenty bright enough?

I will mostly be lasering the tree itself, not necessarily the squirrel. I may also use it to shine on a pesky barking squirrel while bow hunting as well.

You really should be able to do this for less than $20.00 if you get one from e-bay like was suggested, sure the 50mw opto one will work also.

The lasers labeled military on ebay aren't any better than the pens, and I don't doubt optotronics quality but he does charge a hefty premium and uses the same disappointing host as the cheap ebay pens. If you buy 3 or 4 pens off ebay or amazon one of them is bound to be around 40mw which should work for what you need.

But IMO I prefer 100mw+ for pointing purposes in bright daylight, and I'd recommend laserbtb.
LP 515nm 532nm 1-150
I've carried, used, and abused one of their 150mw pens heavily and I'm very happy with how it's held up and the lasers performance.

I may have just gotten lucky but my " military" labeled laser is a bit over 100mw. It's far less common to find a 532 pen reaching over 100 then it is one of the larger/thicker ones.
I have heard of pens reaching over 100 but not often.

It's such a crap shoot with absolutely no guarantee, I wouldn't recommend it especially since they usually cost more.

Your absolutely right about the crap shoot.

For a bit more you can get a lpmed 100mw from sflasers. $50

Tried cleaning the lens with a q-tip :l Took it apart and managed to get the lens out of the tube and put it back into place but somewhere along the line something got messy and the dot turned into a green mess.

Yes they can be annoying, but please don't blind an innocent squirrel. It would be more
humate to just shoot it because a blind animal in the wild will die slowly from thirst or
starvation. Also pay attention to what is behind the tree you're aiming at. If an airplane or
helicopter happens to be flying behind it and gets struck, you could be looking at jail time.

we all know plane shining is bad but i seriously doubt if it hit a plane the pilot would instantly know who hit him and where its from. "its from that forrest! must be John Doe again!"
