Laser Law

Alright so my mom is the reason i can't have a strong powered laser. She went on the internet and researched laser just cuz i wanted to buy one, from LaserPointerer, (we had everything sorted out basically) and then my mom see's that its illegal to own a laser above 5mw. is that true? Then she comes to say that (i've been in the process of getting my green card for years, and the gov't has been lazy and not responding-she says that just buy researching lasers, and other things like knives and bow and arrows, that they would revoke my green card, and export me.) I just want to know what the laws are. Cuz basically she's banning me from even typing "laser" on my computer. Did i mention i have butterfly knives and got a crossbow when i was 9? grr :/ just aggravated right now

so what are the laws. ?

I See that you can type and have access to a computer
connected to the internet.
Try Googling the Federal and your State government
sites for Laser Laws. Looking under radiating devices
should help...

Well if anything above 5mw is illegal in the US, how come websites sell lasers that are above IIIa,/. wicked laser? dragon lasers? Are there things that you must have in a laser to be able to buy it if its above 5mw?

Because these are internet shops and usually where they are located it's not illegal to sell lasers. I also remember reading that especially australia is very strict on these rules. There are a few members from AUS here so maybe they know more about this matter.

But like Laserbee has said: if you still live at home then mom is the law. As much as I hated it when I was younger I can only appreciate it today

WL is in Asia... There are no laws there.

It is illegal to import their non FDA certified Lasers into
the USA and can and will be confiscated by the USA Customs.
WL is on USA Customs Black list for trying to import illegal
