So an incident that happened a while ago was reported in the paper.  I was told yesterday that the court hearing had happened and the guy got off with no charge.  Sorry I don't have a link for you guys, but if this is true... Man...

Sorry for the lack of detail, I never read the article my self. I posted the origional article a while back, just updating on what I heard was written about it. But my main point being is that after all the incidents with lasers and air craft, people are actually coming off without charges. Over the past half a year or so the minimum sentence has seemed to be around six months for simple idiocy, I'm just supprised they were that lax about it.

I know with many of the cases, people are getting off with no charge simply because they CANT be charged. This is because many many countries/states/cities/whatevers do not have any official laws on paper that apply to this sort of crime. Obstructing vision of a pilot is probably illegal, but can they prove that he actually got the laser in the cockpit? This is very much a legal 'gray area' in many places, resulting in people not being charged.

how could they not charge him isnt it illegal to own a laser pointer over 5mw?
