Laser focus problem.

Another of my Lazerer units is having problems. Only had it 4 days. This one is the 405nm 200mW. I guess I dropped it and somehow that threw the beam focus off. I can't adjust it. I can see the lens and the adjuster ring and its threads. However I cannot fit a tool into the aperture that will fit the the adjuster. The host is ridiculously tightly glued. I can't imagine what kind of tools it would take to get it open, and then I doubt if I'd be able to put it back together properly.

Piece of junk. What am I supposed to do with it now? Edit: Nevermind, I destroyed it. Smashed the shit out of the insides and ran water all through it. A deserved death for a poor quality unit. It's not an ideal solution but it's been one of those weeks/months/years. Screw it.

Honestly, the cheap Laser 301 405nm is superior to this unit in every way, and at a third of the price.

This does not give me any confidence in any of my other Lazerer units. Is this kind of crap common?

You might have asked a member here to look at it before your
destruction of the device. I've only seen one of his lasers
and it was ~10% overspec but not dropped.

Wrong move, even if you couldn't fix it, maybe someone here could have.

If you don't use distilled water, you risk contaminating the direct injection cavity with non-resonating chip weevils, which are known to degrade GaN PN junctions to the point of catastrophic electrical failure, i.e. overheating until it fries.

After smashing it, you probably should have used distilled water. Then it would work.

I poured some methylene chloride into it, works fine now. Thanks for letting me vent.
