Laser engraving services for personalized gifts?

Hello,

I was wondering if there are (or were) any laser vendors that offer laser engraving of personal names on their products. There are young colleagues among our local astronomical club and I wanted to buy them their own lasers when they come of age. (They are around 14-16 right now and has a knack for finding satellites and are pretty good about lasers). In the past I would share my loaner lasers with them and supervise the usage. Loaner lasers may be passed around within the group and they frequently end up in the wrong house (usually a colleague). So far the sure fire approach is to put an address label around a battery and check routinely. Several of our lasers look identical, so I figured a personalized stencil would be something special.

For astronomical purposes it's typically 532nm with a peak output of less than 35mW, anything higher wipes out the dark sky object I'm trying to point out and have to wind up pointing around it. I plan to procure lasers around 15mW as gifts, parts budget about $100 per laser, with the hope that they last as long as the gift bearers remain in amateur astronomy.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. If no laser vendors offer the service, does anyone know of a laser engraving store I can ship my lasers in to be engraved, I'm in the state of Florida. Shipping cost currently is not a grave concern. Thanks in advance!

I could do it for you, but I'm in Australia, so bar shipping costs, I think customs would be an issue. Alternatively give MarioMaster on here a PM, he has a laser engraver. There's probably a few others in the US on this forum.

If lower powers are okay laserglow offers engraving on their pointers.

ARG, I didn't know that!

Their 5mW lyras have been my loaners, extremely stable and dependable. Only short coming is that 5mW is too dim around places where light pollution is a persistent problem, and laserglow does not appear to sell pointers beyond that output range.

Things, thanks for the heads up, I'll give MarioMaster a hollar :)
