Alexandrite, exotic flashlamp lasers make me giggle.

Hughes Ruby Laser Range Finder or a Laserscope HPS?

@ash
"hernia or constipation"
This or That.. LASER edition! ;)

(disconsider as an answer)

It doesn't have to be related to lasers. :p

Please try to keep them related to light-emitting sources, although non-laser questions are OK as well. After all, it would make things a lot more interesting!

@Prototype

I'll take the rangefinder.

Here's an easy one: Optotronics or Laserglow?

Optotronics!

24" Full HD Computer monitor or 100mW 589nm Portable laser (both say, highest quality, and equally priced) ?

I already have the 24" Full HD monitor, but if I have to choose, hell, 100mW of yellow, that must be greater than all the HD porn in the world.
For a lab build: Flexdrive or LM317, both heatsinked.

Flex, ofcourse! EDIT - Wait, what? Labby? Oh. LM317.

Ferric Chloride 3 or mixture of HCl and H2O2 ?
(Etching boards. Ferric Chloride has long shelf life, and does not leave nasty vapour, though etching takes around 7-8 minutes. HCl+H2O2 takes only 2-3 minutes to etch, but has nasty vapours and only has shelf life for about 6 hours , since Hydrogen Peroxide can't survive long in acid).

Would you rather have a 100mW 577nm true Yellow laser pointer or a 100mW 488nm cyan laser pointer :D
I would go with the 577nm

Ferric Chloride 3. Longer shelf life for me to be able to ship it to you 'cause I won't use it. :p

Flashlamp pumping or diode pumping?

577.

Deep UV or far IR laser?

(Two answers, two questions... :p)

Diode, definetly.

Would you rather have a 100W CO2 laser tube (nothing else) , or 100W 808nm diode bar with correction optics (and nothing more than optics)?

808nm, man. Burn, baby, burn!

A. X-Wing with 589nm lasers.
B. Millenium Falcon with 473nm lasers.

Your choice.

Falcon, since it's a really fast ship and can smuggle stuff and people. Also, has Leia onboard.

Okay tuff guy.

Ill take chuck norris... hey, at least I die happy this way.

Would you rather have a 5W RGB laser diode, where it meant cutting off your thumb to get it?
Or drink 1 gallon of liquified feces for a 20W 473nM system instead?

The question was specifically directed at Niko.

Also, two things, first, nanometers are written with both letters in LOWER case! Example: "nm".

Two, you're a very sick man. :D

Preferable neither but if I had to choose, I'd drink the feces :barf:

I'd take the UV laser, since I already have three green ones. Plus, even low-powered UV lasers are very expensive - I could sell the 1 mW one and buy lots of other lasers!

This one is a bit sadistic:

Would you rather:

1) Have your $150 laser get confiscated by the TSA (with no chance of getting it back)
2) Be banned from all laser forums for two years (with no appeals)
