Laser 301 custom lens idea/question.

I'm having a very special laser built. I'll tell you all about it when it's finished. It's given me an idea for fixing my Laser 301's that have damaged plastic lenses.

In this thread I show the breakdown of a DPSS Laser 301 host.

I'm thinking of completely removing the stock optical components (parts 1, 2, and 3) and replacing them with a custom setup. Specifically, a hollow aluminum tube threaded at one end to screw onto part 5. The other end would be threaded to accept the front end of a 9mm-diode Aixiz module, i.e. the lens and its focusing mechanism. If you go to DTR's laser shop and look at the modules he has available (here), I'm referring to the copper part, the lens barrel, and the focusing ring. Install a glass 3-element lens (of which I have three, purchased from DTR) into the Aixiz front end, then screw the Aixiz front end into the aluminum tube.

I would use a 9mm Aixiz module because its larger opening would be unlikely to obscure or interfere with the laser beam.

Or, put more simply, a custom-made metal part that would hold a 9Mx0.5mm lens barrel at the right point for optimum focus

Does this sound like something that would work? I really can't stand having perfectly good lasers that look like crap because the lens is a non-standard-sized piece of junk that can't simply be replaced on its own.

Another idea would be to have a custom part 2 made that will accept a 9Mx0.5mm threaded lens barrel.

Another approach would be some kind of adapter that allows an Aixiz front end to screw into part 4.

I realize it's overkill for a $25 laser but there is literally nothing wrong with any of them (I have 3) except the lens is garbage and will instantly be destroyed by any serious cleaning attempt. I really want to replace the lenses and at this point I am willing to go custom to get it done.

Thoughts? Other ideas?
