Common guys,

Of course we agree that he DO NOT MENTION LASER SAFETY ENOUGH even when working with lasers over 1w which will blind you immediately but don't overreact with insults.

Every single one of my laser project videos has a warning about lasers somewhere. If it was not in the original video, it is in the description or annotations in the video.

I think, what people want, is you to stress the importance of safety, a annotation, or a warning in the description won't make most people realize the importance of safety, however if you did a 30 second clip to explain the importance and need for laser safety, more people would listen.

He doesn't mention Laser Safety for ANY Laser... Even <1W Lasers
are enough to easily blind you... KipKay thinks he knows better than
the knowlgeable members here...
He doesn't believe in simple Laser Safety... and he keeps proving it...

People SHOULD Overreact when Morons like KipKay are let loose
in public...

Why is KipKay still associated with this Forum... He does not
contribute anything but Dagerous Videos and promotes stealing
of ideas and Videos from others....

The only reason he was contributing financially to this Forum was
to see what else he could steal and put into a Video...

His Reps show that he does not belong associated with this
Laser Safety conscious Community....IMO

To be fair, he did add an annotation warning in the "Laser Flashlight Hack" video, seen here:

YouTube - Laser Flashlight Hack!

...but it's brief, insignificant, and can be skipped by turning off annotations or pressing play during the warning.

His laser videos are mostly "OMG BURNING LASERS" with a little bit of "oh, by the way, safety lol" thrown in. :cryyy:

He added this to his video:

Please exercise caution when using any laser. Never point them at any living thing and never look into the beam of the reflection of a laser!

What he doesn't seem to want to pass on is that even the reflection from a white WALL can be dangerous. Not something that would occur to your average teenager.

Still... IMO it's a start.

The unit that supposedly got confiscated in the video is definitely a 26650 RPL style Ehgemus. Also he has his dog sitting not 2 feet away from where he is pointing it looking at the beam. That is real safe.

I never mention laser safety in any of my videos either. Nor do you ever see a pair of safety glasses in any of my videos.

It's because I don't even own a pair. Call it stupid, but it's my decision.
You guys can bash him all day long and pounce on anyone who disagrees (mob mentality) but at the end of the day it's his video. If he doesn't want to stress safety, he doesn't have to.

I'm just saying....This is how I picture the LPF safety patrol

Mohrenberg, as I always say, common sense is the best protection against having your eyes hard-boiled.

So what if you don't have goggles, not like you're going to point a dangerous bluray laser into, say, your son's face from 1 feet away, trying to hit a cigarette he's holding in his mouth.

Sometimes I see people doing well to encourage others to use proper laser safety, but sometimes I see a mentality more looking like "Holy fukkin' sh*t it's a fukkin' laser and if you don't have goggles it'll kill you so hard you'll die to death, and your relatives will be blind for generations".

And in all honesty, Kipkay bashing went a little into the direction of the latter.

Nevertheless,
I hate him because of his arrogance, greed and way of thinking.
Everything is dumbed down so that most idiots go "Wow even I could sort of build it", and he gains popularity, and ofcourse money, off it.

When people actually get around to trying to build his stuff, problems arise. I'm specifically talking about laser projects of his, but not that other stuff is college-degree-project material either. I still can't grasp the birth of an idea of a toaster with toothbrushes in it.

I understand your point, mohrenberg, but remember how many hits Kipkays videos get
compared to yours.
Since he has such a large audience of, hmm, intellectually challenged youtube users
(youtubers in general I mean, not kipkay fans in particular), I think he really should
point it out more.
The way it is now, you have to look for the safety advice while it should be blatantly
in-your-face.

Also, kudos for admiting to not owning glasses, that takes some balls around here!
I'm gonna take the opportunity to say, neither do I.:na:

But of course I cannot BUT advice everyone to get some and use them at the appropriate moment.

The senseless bashing and name calling is just immature, IMHO.

He HAS improved his act somewhat since his last visit here, but obviously it wasn't enough.

:D

I admit I was just trolling. I recently discovered how much FUN it can be to troll and deliberately go against the mob.

but yes the "Holy fukkin' sh*t it's a fukkin' laser and if you don't have goggles it'll kill you so hard you'll die to death, and your relatives will be blind for generations." is normally how it ends up.
lasers are no more dangerous than anything else in this world. It all depends on the operator. I've hurt myself more with shaving in my life than I have with lasers. I've yet to shoot out my eye with a BB gun either and I never wore safety glasses as a kid.

Haha, well played sir. Good fun :)

My point still stands though. I hate to see people claiming that you should never ever observe the actual laser you've bought because it'll kill you dead.

The whole point of having a laser is because it's pretty. If I can't look at it, the damn. I don't want that laser.

Common sense first. Safety glasses where there's probability of an accident (say, alligning the stuff in a scanner or spyrograph or something else), but generally using your laser in your room cannot be considered dangerous unless your room has mirrors for every wall, or you're intentionally trying to hit a reflective object with your laser. EDIT- Or, unless you're burning something for fun, since that usually requires staring at the dot and unlucky object up close. Forgot to mention that.

Yeah I think there are a lot of people who don't wear safety glasses.

I would like to compare not wearing glasses to masturbating.

It's like a conservative christian (LPF safety patrol) preaching to everyone that masturbating (not wearing glasses) will make them go blind. Now everyone masturbates (doesn't wear glasses) but nobody wants to admit it!!

OMFG did i just do an epic win all over this thread?
