Just Ordered My First Proper Laser! Comments?

My first proper laser was ordered 10 minutes ago, from lazerer.com and I simply cannot wait for it! It is a:

LZCS - 650nm 200mW Focusable Red Laser Pointer

I know it wont be as visually impressive as a 532nm Green Laser or even a 445nm Blue, but I've always liked red and this laser packs more burning power according to the many videos and reviews I've seen. The order cost me a total of £33 ($53.14) including:

- The Laser Itself - £28.02 / $44.99
- Extra Battery + Charger "Upgrade" - £3.11 / $5
- Power Certificate (LPM Results e.t.c.) - £1.87 / $3

I didn't initially want to get the Power Certificate with it but after reading up a bit, I found that it would be a good idea to get the certificate, as it shows the LPM results specific to my unique laser. Hopefully I will get the laser in the next 1-2 weeks, so expect a review soon. I wont be putting my own LPM results though as I currently do not own an LPM meter :yabbem: ... But I will show the basics (unboxing, assembly, LPM from order...) and some other things (burning paper, plastic, balloons, lighting matches, lighting sparklers...) so I will actually be putting my YouTube account to good use :)

With that in mind, I will keep you posted on the news and be onto a review as soon as it arrives!

UPDATE 1 - 11/11/11

This morning at 5:39 am GMT I received an e-mail from Lazerer telling me they'd shipped the items! It also says I should receive it in about 14-20 days but I suspect it might turn up earlier from what I've read on the forums. My Generic laser was ordered from china with an expected delivery of 20-24 days and I got it in a week!

I've also added the Eagle 660nm goggles on Survival Lasers to my cart and I'm ready to order those, so all there's left to do now is wait!

I'll continue to update this thread as I get information and when the package arrives

UPDATE 2 - 23/11/11

Came home to find my package lying in front of the door - it fits the letterbox! Happy days! :san: I've been a little impatient so I can honestly say that it did arrive in good timing; 15 days from when I placed the order. I immediately unpackaged it and I noticed that it has been very well packaged! As with almost all (if not then absolutely every) Lazerer packages I opened to find a white box with the words "GREEN LASER POINTER" in gold writing.

I will be explaining more in my review when it's up!

Did you also order your first proper goggles?

I wont lie and say they're "top of the range" but its a pair of £20 ones my best mate claims to be from "some laser website". Although I trust him with a lot of things, my eyesight I trust only myself with so I will be deciding between the T-REX 650nm Goggles on Lazerer or the equivalent from Dragon Lasers (bearing in mind that I can't order from Dragon Lasers as my parents wont allow me to buy from websites not using paypal... I guess I could have a friend do it for me :)) Yes, I order through my parents as I'm 16. But not for long because I'm having a bank account set up pretty soon, and I'll be getting a part time job so I'll be able to buy slightly pricier lasers!

So yes I am prepared. I will be asking him where he got the goggles from just so I can clarify that my eyes wont immediately combust the minute I switch the laser on!

You're better of spending a bit more and getting yourself good goggles. The ones from dragon lasers have a good reputation.

I have a couple links in my signature as well...

Yeah, I've done a bit of research on them. I searched the forums for "budget goggles" e.t.c., and I noticed that cheap ones are either hit and miss, or completely unreliable. From the many posts I read, dragon lasers only had positive speak about their goggles, and to my surprise they are quite affordable too. I will certainly give them a go, thanks :)

The ones from DL are fine, but IIRC the problem I had with them is they tack on a large shipping charge... so they actually come out to be the same as similar ones from survival.

Edit:For me the price is a follows: Total:
US$47.99 (Euro 34.07)

Considering the ones from survival laser are only a couple dollars more, I'd go with them, since they ship from the US and will get to you faster:

Double Edit: IIRC there is a coupon code for LPF members to use on survival lasers... gonna have to hunt it down yourself though, I don't remember what it is:p

I have those from Dragonlasers..

They do the job just fine ;) (actually got them for free. but that's another story)
Did some envelop burning with it today while sitting on the toilet.
OT: Weird stickers they used on it... (white, but can burn black stipes or words or whatever on it with a red laser (like a laser printer)

cheers..
