I got the laser today! So happy :) I'm not using it indoors as I haven't got goggles yet and I'm certainly not burning things either. I just need to save a little then I can order those eagle goggles :D I'll be doing a very basic review soon but other than that I'm only using it for basic things.
--------------------------------------------
A little extra info; it peaks at 243mw according to the Power Certificate which I am thoroughly impressed with!

That's awesome, and about time:D

The power certificates are accurate... so if it peaked at that, it can probably do even a bit more on a high quality battery;)

Sweet :) By the way ... I leant on it earlier while trying to grab my TV remote and accidently set the dot on my PC screen. It put a small barely noticeable yellow squiggle that's invisible when viewing white screens but I just want to know; is my screen going to be OK? I haven't got insurance (at the moment) and I'm very prone to to being paranoid about small things :(

Unfortunately screens and lasers don't play well together.

Your screen should be fine, but that mark is there to stay most likely. At least I never heard of damage spreading from something like this.

Someone posted a while back about a similar experience with a phone, and having dead pixels.

You heard this a million times already, but you have to be careful where you point the laser... what if you have reflected it off something shiny into your eye, instead of just hitting the monitor?

If it makes you feel any better, a few years I shot one of my monitors, while also being careless... it didn't survive:p

I lost an iPhone to lasered-screen disorder. Luckily the Apple Geniuses have "Never seen anything like it in a screen.." and promptly replaced it. Yes, a rare anomaly indeed.

:crackup::crackup: I doubt the issue of laser damage comes up very often in retail!

Thanks for being honest ... But knowing that you lost a moniter to a laser doesn't make me feel better :L ah, now I've learnt I'll be WAY more careful ;). By the way, my laptop uses LED-LCD so surely its just a few "dead pixels" as you said right? :O

Lol... you misread, I lost a monitor to a gun, not a laser:p

Yeah, in your case, worst that happened is you damaged a few pixels.

Actually neither... and it was just a pellet gun. I thought I removed all the bbs, and was fiddling around with it, looking over the safety mechanism... the gas cartridge was also supposed to be complete empty.

Luckily I was pointing it away from me, and it didn't ricochet into me either.

Definitely one of those humbling experiences I won't soon forget:can:

I think that was me, I accidentally shot my phone camera with a 200mW 405. A few days later I noticed all my pics started having weird purple squiggles on them that looked like someone had drawn on them in pen.

Lucky I was outside and it didn't reflect back.
