Hello everyone! (This will be my first thread :) )

So i purchased a laser(S3 KRYPTON 300 mw) that guarantees that virtually no or little IR light will be "leaked" from my laser. I have been messing with my laser and found that these reddish or pinkish dots/spots are near my laser's dot.

Here are the pictures:
This image was with me pointing my laser through my laser goggles in order to see if the IR was clear and my laser was set in low power.

This image was taken when i started to notice that there was this other color so I pointed my laser at the wall and then took a picture with the goggles in front of my camera. This picture was also taken in low power.

So this is what I know:
*I can see this halo as a combination of red and pink and it’s dim.
*I can see the halo on my camera as the pictures demonstrate.
*On my other forum members are telling me that it is IR or it’s not IR or change their minds about it.
*Also, i asked my girlfriend if she could see and she indeed saw it as well.
*I saw the same result in two similar experiments so I'm leaning towards it's IR side.

So what I'm asking if someone can tell me if it’s IR or not IR, and if you could please tell me your reasoning behind your conclusion. Also, out of curiosity, is there a standardized method for detecting and testing for IR?

Thank you everyone!

I just found the pic on the internet, it's not mine. It's just demonstrating the IR to Green conversion.

Someone bought a o-like 500mW and it peaks at 710+ mW's with not much IR (i think) It cost him under 300 dollars and you can buy a 1w krypton, pay 1 grand and still get less than 700mW's. WL is just a huge rip-off

Anyways, I think you should either return it and ask for a refund or exchange or add a IR filter to it.

Sounds good but I like how WL has a longer guarantee and it has continuous cycle while most o-like lasers don't have. Unless there's a way around it. I would like to know that.

has continuous cycle

If WL sold a laser, and the body was made up of a rolled up strip of bacon, and the diode was heatsinked into a piece of sausage, would you believe it had a continuous duty cycle as long as WL told you it did? Of course you wouldn't have a continuous duty cycle, you would have breakfast.

The point is, what WL says needs to be taken with a grain of salt. And not even real salt, more like that NoSalt stuff. Plus, it's not like you're going to turn it on and go play Black Ops til it runs out of batteries or something.

Okay. So no laser has a continuous duty cycle(not like 30 minutes like at least for 5 minutes)? Also, I have gotten repairs from WL before and they claim it so if it breaks I get my laser repaired. Its work for me in the past. But said comapny would not repair my laser due to extensive use. I understand were your getting at. But I prefer not to argue for my believes, I really like this forum and I understand your only trying to help me out. But, I think I got this :)

Just make sure, before you purchase another laser in the future, to hang around here checking out review threads and ones that mention different companies and dealings with them before making a final decision. It will help save you money and/or frustration.

Yeah I kind of already did that. Wicked seemed to best to me for green lasers. Looked around o-like and dragonlasers and I really like wicked's hosts...

Yup, they have some nice hosts.

Mind taking my name off that tag? Seems pretty arrogant to put it on there like that..."lotus=wicked hater". Pretty immature, man.

Im sorry im new to whole forum, internet, and lasers. But what would like me to do... the whole quotation thing? I thought it was just a way to make replies easier? Wasn't trying to be immature or arrogant I apologize for my behavior.

Heh, no Dopey, by "tags" he meant the small words that appear on the small bar down there below the Quick Reply box, you can see it saying "lotus=wicked hater" and somebody added that for no reason. You did nothing wrong, as a matter of fact "Quoting" is a good way to reply, since there's no doupt to whom you are talking to if there are multiple discussions going on.

Though, Lotus, it's not very mature to immediately assume that the guy who you just spend entire thread helping, is acting that way. Also the picture you used, up there with IR laser shining into crystals, belongs to ReNNo, guy from Bosnia, good friend of mine, he did that experiment ages ago and took that picture.

It's a helluva nice picture, huh? :D

Lol. WL's guarantee is almost useless. I doubt they have changed much.

about duty cycles. 3 mins is the most I have ever run any laser. Im not going to leave a laser on smoking away while I ride my bike around the block. And the batteries define your duty cycle more than the actual heatsinking capabilities.

Speaking about hosts. No ones going to be looking at your host when you show them a 700mW laser beam in the sky. They will probably be looking for a way to clean their pants :p

And, the new style o-like hosts dont look bad at all! Check out Eud's review in his signature ;)

All valid points. Thank you. If the duty cycle is set to 120 seconds is there possibility that can be extended? Well wicked has been good to me so far so there good in my book.

And I didn't even notice that tag, how would I go about changing that? Its so small I didn't see it.

Edit: saw the edit box lol. But I can't uncheck them over my phone for some reason I apologize and will get it done in the morning.
