First of all, if you have never owned a laser before, don't buy any laser over 5mW. Don't buy eBay or Amazon "5mW" lasers either, those are way over 5mW. Any laser over 5mW will cause permanent eye damage. It is very easy to damage your eyes, and even if you don't notice the damage (no nerves, and you can't really tell if you've burned a hole in your retina or not), it is extremely easy to. Laser goggles are a must.

Second, those lasers look like pure BS advertising. It is very difficult to find a 405nm laser at 1W. That first link would likely be a 445nm (purple-blue) laser. The prices are also "too good to be true." In the laser market, that means that they ARE too good to be true. If you're new to lasers, you shouldn't even be looking at these anyway.

I suggest you read into the dangers of lasers, as many many people in the world are absolutely CLUELESS about laser dangers... this forum is chock full of information, plus this link will help you immensely: http://repairfaq.org/sam/lasersaf.htm

Try to do a bit of research before asking (although I need to practice that myself :p). A quick search for 'good laser companies' brought up numerous threads that will educate you on laser suppliers who will sell you lasers that are of good quality.

Well considering you are relatively new to the laser world (me too really).
I suggest you to read a few basic Laser Safety tips before you make any move.
Survival Lasers has a nice guide written over the basics of laser safety.
Bite-sized essentials.

Laser Safety Precautions

In the event that you ignores the recommendations and go for the TOP GUNS straight away.
YOU MUST MUST MUST read this

I suggest contacting Blord or perhaps Daguin.
He's pretty much the go to guy around the BST section.

oh gees.
Not O-like and Lazerer .
They are often underspec, and the customer service can be rather poopy at times.

Rayfoss is like the Wicked Laser's little brother. Questionable quality and shipping.

I have had a good experience with lazerer, although I admit that it was a little underspec.

You should probably just buy a custom from certain members here. It's cheaper, your laser will be up to spec, the customer service will be better, and you won't have to wait for it to arrive from China. And they might be able to teach you a thing or two about lasers if you ask them.
