So what I'm about to tell you is just something that popped into my mind and not something I actually did. I know we all have these thoughts from time to time.

So me and my wife was at the mall a few weeks ago and she put a few bucks in one of those machines that you can win iPads ipods and various other prizes. The game she was playing is where you have to maneuver a small pair of scissor type cutters and cut the string to release the prize. We both payed a few times with no luck but came very close. Just than It came to mind that if I had my 2W laser with me I can cut that string from rite through the glass. My wife asked if I could actually do that and I told her, without a doubt.

So what kind of stuff have you thought about?

I've had devious thoughts, far worse than that.... but something keeps me from doing them too but if I were there and saw that and had my 900mw 405nm laser with me, I'm wondering if I could stop myself from doing so :)

Well you know how when you go to parties there are a LOT of balloons? Every single time I am in that situation I think of getting an IR laser that has a bit of range and power and then popping a lot of them from a few feet away while people are near them just to scare the sh*t out of them. Never actually did it though, because of the safety hazards.

When an activity poses no real harm to any individual it falls to your morals and what hours comfortable with to determine if it is right or wrong. The risk vs reward aspect simply determines if it is worth doing, morality aside.

Imo those machines are funded by big corps and "lifting" one item isn't going to hurt anyone provided you watch out for reflections. I wouldn't try it myself unless I was sure there's zero chance I'd get caught. One of those prizes could pay my bills for two months, or buy food for even longer for my family.

This is a wicked idea :D , the people that run these machines probably make good money already. They have heaps of these machines all over the place and split the profit with the business for letting them put them there (could be run by the business itself). Buuuut it is still stealing and wherever you try to take it from will want to prevent that, don't know if they will try to catch you though since they are only out a few hundred bucks. Might look a little suspicious tho... massive amounts of light and someone walking away with all the prizes.

I reckon if you just walk in and look like you know what you are doing no one would bother you :3 . But if everything works fine and you don't get in trouble, you are left to question your morals.

As long as Im not taking food from someones mouth, I would probably be ok with doing something like this.

(are we even allowed to discuss this? its probably bad seo for the site) 2cheeky4me

Yeah it's not something I plan on doing and would probably feel bad if I did.

One thing that does make me made is how they have most of these machines setup to where 1 person out of so many wins.

It came to mind that a while back I was at a camp and the "security" guy was pissed that the balloons had floated to the ceiling. I popped them while he was gone.

OMG why did this thread appear. I think I know where one of these are. I played it last year trying to win a GoPro and I think there was a Ipod/pad in it also. Might visit said place soon

Hey, awesome sig 3pig! Off topic I know, had to comment though...

Also, good idea as far as I'm concerned. I am not a thief, but I've stolen things before. I have a moral issue with stealing from people, but large corporations and things of the like, I felt less guilty about.

If they got enough money to float an Ipad they got enough money for a camera to make sure you played the game "correctly". Ide be cautious!

You certainly partake in the activity at your own risk, that's for damned sure.

Thankfully I live in the middle of no where, about 500 miles from anywhere that would even have one of these machines to tempt me. So, I don't feel the sting of temptation for it, haha.

maybe this would make a better VET thread, we dont want to be giving any impressionable people ideas, then I'm sure if they get caught they could point to here. and yeah, tons of mischievous stuff has occured to me. IR lasers have even higher capacity for this as they're invisible to out eyes and thus much less conspicuous. the arsonists perfect tool. oops I went and did it. now children.....
