What's the diameter of a bic pen? Anything smaller than 12mm will indeed be very difficult to find or make.

The dia of a bic pen is around 8mm. I doubt you're going to find what you are looking for.

But 4mm extra isn't that much.

Maybe it could just be red then? I mean, red aim, green aim.. same kind of aim, no?

My guess is your wanting this to fit inside the recoil spring of a semiautomatic pistol. If this is the case, then you have a lot more hurdles to clear beyond just your size constraints.

No it's not for a recoil spring and I suppose red would work I just wanted green.

does he want it to fit in a bic pen? or the diameter of a bic pen? also without knowing where its going to go. its a bit hard to design it. such as will the momentary switch be mounted? and if so what to?

It's difficult, but a green laser with a 8mm diameter case is possible. It would have a duty cycle or need extra cooling. It won't be cheap though, a lot will have to be custom made. What is your budget? I may be able to build it, but suitable batteries that fit inside a 8mm case may be difficult to find.

I do need it battery powered and remote switched
via wire. Please if any suggestions or help let me know, or if you would be willing to help me in my venture let me know. I have no prior knowledge of how any of this works.

What you could do is have Ehgemus make you a host... just tell him what you want and he can most likely do it! As far as wavelength the only realistic option would be 650nm (red) because the host will have next to no heat sinking because the width of the pen will almost be the same width as the diode itself. Because of this you would need a low power red because 445nm (blue) would get much too hot and wouldn't be efficient with the run times you would have to have) green is 12mm in diameter so that will be too big, 405nm (blu-ray) would have the same problem as the 445nm blue. As for battery maybe a ton of button cells? And I would run it straight with no driver because It would be hard to find a driver that thin unless you got it custom made by JohnyZ or something. If you have any questions please PM me and I think I could send you to the right people to get this build going ! :)
