ok.. .I have to tell on myself... I was bored on friday so I decided to burn a hole straight through the key to my expedition... I burned right through it with a 1.3 watt and 2.3 watt focused together...
When I tried to go home from work at the end of the day, my expedition wouldn't start!

So I spent all day Saturday... replacing the fuel filter and other troubleshooting stuff...

I finally had it towed to a shop. I got a call this morning from the shop explaining that there is a theft deterrent system built into the key itself! and that is why it wouldn't start. The key sends a signal to the computer that engages the fuel pump. That will be $80 thank you and have a nice day.

I should be taken out back and shot

That's bad, but could have been even worse. I have worked in dealerships for most of my career, and have seen many of these " chipped " keys go for $100.00 or more, just for the blank. Some of these newer keys in addition have to be " programed " as well. So all told you could be in it for $200.00, just because a customer lost there keys! Made more than a few steaming mad..:eg:

At least you didn't blow a LCD TV screen up like that one guy did with a 2W.

Is alright man it happens. I've got a few laser follies myself. My first experience with a DIY build I ordered a 1.2A driver and M140 diode off ebay. I hooked up the driver to a battery without a test load and burnt a part off the driver, so I spent about an hour resoldering the rice sized component back onto the driver. Then I hooked up the M140 to the driver and only had it in a axis module and LED'd the diode within seconds. I also have a small white spot on my LCD TV where my 445 rolled and shined on the TV for a couple seconds.
