I'm $183 in the hole thanks to this company. Confused. Anyone know who they are?

I'm really really really ticked off.
EDIT: Ok, maybe that was a bit harsh. I'm not angry. More "confused".

A package arrived this morning, via UPS. The description was listed as a "Camera Lens" and the value was listed at $822.

That resulted in a customs fee of $98, and a brokerage of $75, for a grand total of $183 that I paid to UPS at the door.

When I opened this box, the contents?

A SAIK 445 build. It looks like one of my own. I just paid $183 in fees to get my own laser back?

I'm posting this on the off chance that someone knows what "Relief LLC" is. It's the name on the shipper information sheet, and to my knowledge, it's not someone I've ever sold anything to. Any insight would be greatly welcomed. I'm very very not jazzed about loosing $183 for the pleasure of receiving a laser I built back in the mail.

Very very puzzled.

EDIT: It's a working SAIK 445 too. This is very weird.

How is it possible ? Paying the tax to get your own laser back. You should sent a complaint to the customs.

Do you have a track of customers who bought the lasers, in this case the SAIK ?

What? Why would they value a SAIK 445 as a camera lens at $822 ?? That's plain stupid.

UPS does have ludicrous fees. I once paid $55.82 in brokerage when I received a Kindle valued at $150. So the brokerage fees seem appropriate, but who the hell would actually declare $822 in a package must be absolutely naive or crazy evil.

edit: rhd, you should deny the package and tell them to return to sender.

Sounds like a return for repair that got mixed up with another package by the sender.
Either that or you just got trolled.. Does the laser work?

It's possible because this was described as an $822 piece of electronics (a camera lens).

It's all on the up and up as far as UPS is concerned. An actual $822 camera lens shipped via UPS would result in this fee. They did nothing wrong. They worked with the information they were given.

Can't deny the package. By the time I opened it up to see what was inside, it was 5 minutes after the delivery man left.

That's what it sounded like to me too. Of the SAIKs I've sold, only one was potentially coming back to be re-LPM'd. The names don't match for that to be this, and in that case I gave very specific instructions on how to send the laser (including not to use UPS).

EDIT: Even further - I know that wasn't this package because I offered to pay the return shipping for that one particular SAIK once it was shipped, but the buyer hasn't yet let me know that it was shipped.

The laser works, yep.

EDIT: I haven't unpacked my LPMs post move yet, but it seems to be working at full power from my eyeballing.

Goggling, you mean ;) Sorry. I figured if this was at the top of the thread list anyway, I'd add that in there.

But on a serious note, that is ridiculous. Do you really think it was a laser you built*? Do you include a signature identification step in your builds?

*That wasn't sarcasm implying you're snooty. Had I read something like that I would assume it was sarcasm, so I figured I'd let you know it's a legitimate question :)

A little confused. But to answer the part that I can identify as your question, yes, this is my build ;)

Well.... I'm going to pack it away I suppose. If it's a troll, it's kind of a bad one, because I guess I still have a laser that's worth more than the $183 I was duped into paying for it. Still curious to know the back story. It seems oddly targeted. IE, I'm into photography, I order camera stuff all the time so it's normal that a camera lens would be en route and that I would sign for it.

If I figure it out, I'll update this thread and let everyone in on the mystery. Very odd though.
