I finished my 415nm 100mw! It's got two safety switches and the on off switch. It's not that bright but I know its dangerous for my eyes. My glasses come in two days so don't fret. I am so excited! Now where all the balloons at B)

Congratulations! The first build is always exciting :)

Try to find for GITD or fluorescent material, fun to see the effects 405nm have on them.

Lol yeah I said 415nm but I know it is 405. I was actually about to fix that. It came with a gitd dust cap and it glows. I can't see the beam though and that's something I wanted :(

Congrats! I'm about to try my first build too... Post up some pics when you have a chance. Show that thing off :)

I'll get pics soon. I want to get more into handhelds though as this particular laser is in a BIG project box. Although I like the look, this in my 5 below host might have looked better. Oh well, always have my next project :) also quickly, does anyone know who sells 445nm diodes for cheap? I have some aixis modules that are empty and want a true blue laser such as 445 but I want it for cheap (obviously lol) I would like it to pop balloons at least. Thanks. Also my 405 has "wings" is this something to worry about?

The cheapest 445nm diodes I know of are Here.

DTR is awesome, and all the diodes in my builds came from him, very fast shipping.

Just to let you know, IIRC, the lowest you can drive any of the 445nm is ~400mW. So it will be a big jump in power if driven even close to the "norm".

Congrats on first build! Definately try fluorescent and phosforesent stuff. And once you have your safety glasses, go around the house pointing at things. You might be surprised.

Try this: with safety glasses on, defocus it to a very wide beem, and shine it at a plant... ;)

As for the wings, that's what normal with a G2 lens. If it bugs, you can get either a 3-element or acrylic lens, but output power will decrease.

The wings don't bug much so it's no problem. And for the higher power jump, I was looking for power so thank you. What I dont get is how my 532 35-60mw is SOOO much brighter than my new 100mw but this is closer to uv so it makes sense.

Word to the wise don't use the laser with the GITD cap on we have proof that the high power units don't like the backsplash and some failures have been reported. This is the second post just today I've seen or read this. Just hit the cap with the beam then put it on.

Green is at the peak of what the human eye can see. UV and Red not so much.

Okay thanks for the advice. And thanks for the beutiful diagram. Stupid question, anyone seen yellow diodes (don't personally care about power)?

Haven't seen any diodes available yet. Would love one. AFAIK the available handhelds are DPSS (IR pumped) and expensive :(

Meee tooo. I saw a yellow laser pointer on eBay for 60. I might link it. Someone should buy it and test it's legitimacy. It's rated as under 1mw so it would be dim.
