Mrcrouse i thought I gave you all the dimensions when I PM'd you the pages of my design. Weird, maybe I missed a page. For all those interested, here is my design.

I think most all the dimensions are present and fairly easy to see. Which one did you still want me to give you?

I couldn't seem to tell how far off center the diode mounting hole needs to be, and what diameter that hole is in the diode. Umm... there are some more, but I'm away from my computer.

The hole in the diode should be 2mm, and if I remember correctly the hole should be 1.1mm away from the center. I will check on that last one though.

Also, is there a counter bore in the diode? What are the dimensions? What size is the lens, and how far away does it needs to be? Can the laser be focused with the lens, or would it be fixed focus?

Just an update from me - I will hopefully be able to begin work on the machining some time in the coming week. I haven't done machine work in a while though, so hopefully I don't cut my hand off! If all else fails, I will post a design of the heatsink needed to be made for the contest and then, if I win, I will have someone design it.

If you win and I lose, I will make you a heatsink for the low low price of one 5W C-mount diode. lol, jk I
have enough 13 around here to make one for you anyway. I'll make it weather we both win, one of us
wins, or we both lose.

It's been a while, but I feel like it's one of those things you never forget. Unfortunately, this will be a toughie because it will be hard to measure the required dimensions (there is no easy way to find where the center of the diode has to be >.<

Well, to make sure that the inside of the phaser doesn't melt and that the majority of the light is emitted, it needs to be centered in the aperture of the phaser (where the lightbulb used to be). However, to make a heatsink for this diode requires it to be dimensioned such that it is at the right elevation in the phaser to align properly... but that is a difficult measurement to make because there is plastic in the way :p

Ah, Thanks, got you. Time for a Dremel, hot knife or shears perhaps, to make some room  Interesting dilemma.
