Most of the forum software I use allows the user that creates the thread to delete it themself. So I guess my question if I have new updates but with a different host should I put them in a new thread or update the old thread.

And it also appears to me that many users here visit many sub forums. On my forums (car forums) most people don't venture out of their specific model or off topic. I'm getting it and I appreciate your tolerance.

Anyway I don't know, so I thought I would post a new one (with all new pics) about the Mag-Lite host that I was using the Ray O Vac (which I gather most of you are tired of looking at) to help mockup . . .

So my concept was an air cooled MagLite (2 d cell incadescent) host running an A-130 a flexdrive and (4) 1.22V 4600 mah sub-c NiMh. mad mspaint skillz yO!

I used the plastic Ray O Vac to help with mockup and measurements as the dimensions are similar to the Mag Lite.

The Mag Lite is suprisingly easy to take apart provided you have a 5/64ths allen wrench . . .

The Mag Lite switch has a hole through it with a set screw/ground tab on the bottom to secure it and ground the host/housing. I removed the switch housing/bulb holder part to produce the bare (blue) switch.

Like I said it is easily removed/installed with the 5/64ths allen. Switch/bulb housing and button cover . . .

Switch installed and sub c's bottomed on the switch/ground tab. A protective acrylic tube from an led inspection lamp holds the cells while allowing a space around the batteries to accommodate airflow . . .

I have a number of fan options but the most promising is that little tall one on the right. Exactly 3.5 mm wider than a d-cell I would only need to take about 1.75 mm out of the Mag Lite lens housing to recess it enough to get some good purchase on the turned down heatsink.

This little short one would work too but not as much airflow . . .

anyway . . . thanx for playin . . . I'm learning.

thanx for an awesome place

see I get no replies here and then I think, "well maybe I should go post this in the 445 forum . . ."

but I guess it's a Friday . . . pretty slow . . .

I imagine now I will be crucified for replying to my own post . . .
