You have to be kidding.

If you buy anything from that site you deserve what you don't get.

That's probably not the best idea. Search around the forums and you will find a few lists of reliable companies.

You probably won't need 500mw of green for astronomy. Anywhere between 5mw to 50mw would be fine.

Reccomended: LP 515nm 532nm 1-150 (pen style)

Yea im thinking its too good to be true. Im now looking into the 200mw 532nm riffle host on Lazerer.com It seems to be at a reasonable price, and it looks like they guarantee output.

RIFLE532nm - 200mW Focusable Burning Green Laser

No a bad thought , however, many many LPF members have had trouble with Laserer. IN past year service has gone way way down--Search reviews of same . Additionally the Laserer web site has shown that item out of stock for a very long time and still lists it as out of stock.

Have a look at this one which is on sale ---O-Like is an OK supplier of low end lasers --> 350mW and only $139.99 : Cool Special High Power 400mW Green laser torch/focusable [OL-GR-400] - $139.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

If you want better quality see: PL 520nm 532nm 100-1000
and professional quality see: PL-E Pro 532nm Green Lasers

Really all you need for Astronomy pointing is 50mW or 100mW

I was looking into that one previously I almost bought it. Someone told me to stay away from O-like for whatever reason. So I started looking for other sites. Do O-like lasers come on spec?

IIRC, O-like is alright with lasers, they're often on spec and for a good price, but they don't have IR filters and the customer service is lacklustre. I recommend LaserBTB, they to me have the best combination of quality and price.

I agree--you can get better quality good lasers at reasonable prices from laserbtb.

Complex look at the HL-532 200mW is much better than anything O-Like sells and is only $131 and their 300mW only $164, 150mW @ only $113--importantly you can also order one with an IR filter for only $1.64 extra .
Duty cycle meaning amount ot time you can leave it on vs off is very good also--10, 8, or 5 minutes depending on output. THe O-Like laser has very short duty cycle.

Anything 100mW or above is more than enough power for Astronomy use and many other uses also.

Encap Thank you very much for the link to the 532nm lasers! The 300mw looks about perfect! I wasn't aware of that website!

I demand air filters on all my lasers.

Keep in mind that a genuine 300mW green is too bright for star pointing. You also haven't added your location to your profile so I don't know what country your in. If you happen to be in the U.S. And you point that in the sky you may draw too much attention to yourself, it's also illegal here if your within 10 miles of an airport or if you even shine it in the flight path of an aircraft, so be careful, you only need 50mW or less for that purpose but a 300mW will be lots of fun otherwise.

I am located in the US. I would be using this laser in the country. I really appreciate everyones help. If you think 300mw is too much I might end up getting a lower mw model. I would think as long as I am being responsible with a laser I wouldn't have any issues. But you never know nowadays.

It is up to you what you think you need or want.
Keep in mind the duty cycles and what you want to do with it. See the chart on the laserbtb web page .
300mW is 5 min on/10 sec. off
200mW is 8 min. on/10 sec. off
150mW is 10 min. on /10 sec. off

All of the output powers are more than enough for astronomy pointing and will have a bright beam at night.

Whichever you choose order with the IR filter installed.

yopu have been given lots of good advice here- might have evn been better if we had yr location(hint hint)
IMO you are going about this search backwords- dont look for lasers- search the forum and find good sellers that way- forget alibabba - there are maybe 3 good sellers in all of china- read the reviews- look for more recent ones- prices are rapidlly changing right now-- no 532 witout a IR filter-

look for a member selling some of thier collection for the very best deals-

take your time
