How to store your laser

Hey guys

I can't find any thread relating to this, so I think I will start a thread, please either point me to the right thread if I missed it, or Admins please move to the appropriate forum if needed thanks.

So I was wondering how you guys store you lasers (and batteries), I personally keep them in a food grade zip-lock bag in my safe, but was thinking something like these would be better suited Vinyl and Mylar Currency Sleeves ("Dupont® Melinex Currency Sleeves" or "Frame-A-Coin® Vinyl Currency Sleeves") especially since they are heat sealable. If not would something like these be good Silica Gel & Desiccants for Coin Collectors to keep the moisture out in highly humid areas

Or is all of this a waste of time (not really a waste of time for me, I was already on this site ordering a few coin supplies when I thought of lasers ) and I should just keep them in the packaging they came in or the food grade bags if there is no packaging or it gets damaged, I have no Idea I just don't want the wires and the driver and housing and stuff getting damaged because of my own stupidity.

So any advice at all will be greatly appreciated, and I apologize again if this has already been discussed.

Edit: i already have a few of those silica gel things that I use for my PM and REM bullion coins and bars and have tested some with and without, and with the silica gel things is much better, so I was thinking this might apply to lasers as well.

Why a bag and not just a case?

Because food-grade zip-lock bags are much more airtight then the cases most of these lasers come in, but I should say I still keep them in the cases I just put the laser into a bag because the bags serve as another layer of defence from the air and the case its self, because who really knows what kinds of chemicals they use in the dyes and the plastics like the foam and am just nervous about chemical leakng deystroying the driver and diode and stuff.

All of this is obviously over-kill but I am just wanting to store lasers for quite a few years (over 10 years) and am just after the best way to store them.

Sometimes you get those really fancy aluminium cases, but I suppose if you put it in food bags, and into a case, not much harm would come to them. As you said, the food bags are air tight, then putting them in a case will give them a bit more security, if they ever fell onto the floor etc.

If you are worried about the effects on your Laser's
lens and driver while stored and prefer a plastic bag...
I would suggest an AntiStatic Bubble bag instead of
a non AntiStatic Ziplock bag...

The desiccant is a good idea if the bag is sealed.

Obviously your not going to be able to hermetically seal your lasers in a plastic bag I think a case with a few packs of silica gel would do just fine.
