Well with a 5mW green you can easily see it at night, I can even see my True 5mW in my room with my lights on faintly. Red for the same results you generally need 10-11 times the power for the same effect. So I say that a True 30mW and DIY Burner would be the two that would work out well.

Yea my old >5mw green was as viable as my DIY red at night and I couldn't see the beam during the day. My 100mw NOVA I can see in the house in the day time with windows open but if I go outside I can't see nothing but the dot.

Well I never owned any green lower than 50mw other than my 5mw. I could see my 50mw in my room during the day. I know Rhith owns a 30mw DX so I would give one of those a go. Unless you want visibility outside during the day. And for that I am not sure.

Well with the right equipment you can do a good deal even with a 5mW laser. Such as this:

But with 30-50mW you should be able to pop balloons fairly well and easily light matches with a lens. Something like an X-65 would be a great combination for visibility and burning power at a reasonable price. But if you're just looking for casual use try out a True 30mW since that should give you great results; especially at the price. ;)

I can see my 250mw green (532nm) just fine in the day, maybe not when theres absolutely no clouds, but when there are a few clouds, and i look directly down the beam, i can see it just fine. But my pulsar 125mw i cannot see in the day time, and can barely see in the night, only when you look directly down the beam. I think its underpowered.

BTW: how do you get the smilies/ text to move across the screen like that? :-?

Do you mean daytime as in "a lighted room" or as in "full sun, mid-July"?
