There is a lf NDB in yellowknife.I have copied it many times!I spend what little on air time I have mostly in the window on 75...I am working to improve the shack and move it from the basement upstairs. When I do I will pm you....

I am drinking very heavily tonight...I have a tooth abscessing.Off to the dentist tomorrow...no DXing until this mess is fixed...

Do I strike you as the kind of man who throws cinder blocks from overpasses into car windshields?Hell no I am not that man!!!I would never shine my laser at a plane!Only an imbecile would do something so evil and dangerous!!

Realistically shining typical lasers at airplanes is more like dropping wet sponges from an overpass onto cars passing below. Slightly less deadly than cinderblocks, but still something you should not do and could result in accidents as it will scare the hell out of some drivers, probably resulting in crashes.

As for legalities, selling class 4 lasers as 'presentation pointers' would be about as legal als selling bricks as 'overpass confetti'. It's not so much the product itself that is dangerous, but if you suggest an application that clearly causes danger you can get in trouble for it.

You are correct of course. The high power multimodes are so divergent they don't seem to me too dangerous. But the freak out/spazbot reaction could very well be a serious penalty...so obviously illuminating planes/choppers is a felony bad idea.It just makes sense!

Non typical lasers which would actually be dangerous seem never to be wielded by the garden variety idiot typically charged with such crimes...thank God.

Yes, we've had QSL cards from pretty far away from people that have heard the NDB. One of our club members works for Nav Canada maintaining the radios at NDBs up here, as well as other Nav Canada sites.

Sorry for the delayed reply - I was out of town for a couple of days there. I operate HF mobile, mostly 40m at the moment, 10m is dead and I can't bring myself to switch to the 20m antenna when it's -30C outside just to have the band be dead. Been getting into the States fairly well on 40 though. Really need to work on a better setup this summer, 8ft whip an a tuner I'm thinking. :D

Hope your trip to the dentists went well ...

Look forward to your PM :)

Sorry to derail again...

@Alien Laser - Class 5 is Death Star class. ;)

Dentist visit was horrible...tooth was pulled.I have had fractures across the pulp that were less painful...I am still sore.

I need a better dentist...you know it is bad when you see the light flash...

I will be ok...

Have never had any issues with owning mine.

Just use your head. If you're not being stupid with it, the authorities will not be bothering you.

Unsure about sale.

That's why I ordered the pocket red! Have you tried searching for a belt holster for it? That was my plan - get one to go with my flashlight. That said, haven't needed any of my EDC stuff at this new job ...

I just carry it around in my pocket with my keys and knife. It's got some scratches and dings already that annoy me, but no prob at all with functionality.
I've ran two batteries through it.
defiantly my favorite edc item aside from my balisong

Edit: my fenix pd35 is a little big for my pockets, so most the time I leave it at home and just use my phone light.
I need some cargo shorts
