How far should module be pushed into heat sink?

Hey guys. I just finished my first build and I have a concern about the module and the heat sink. I have a c6 host and a heat sink from suvival laser. I have 445nm diode with xdrive driver that is in the module casing. When I insert the whole module into the heat sink and push it into the host the module ends up hitting the pill. So I have to loosen the screw and let the module slide out a bit. It barely gets to the point to where the copper module is making contact with the heat sink. Are you following me? So the actual part of the module that is holding the diode is actually sitting outside the heat sink.
I suppose I could unscrew and remove the back cap of the module and get it to sit down lower into the heat sink. Just wondering if this is correct thing to do?

I think that I will be removing the back cap so that it will sit deeper into the heat sink.

To use one of those modules with that driver from DTR you must use the drilled pill and battery contact board, not the regular pill or else it wont fit. The front of the module should be level with the front of the heat sink so that it is making full contact with the heat sink.

Drill a clearance hole in the pill to allow the module to slide in all the way. The back half provides some
extra thermal sinking so you want to leave it on as long as you can get away with it.

Hopefully its not already put together with the contact board already pressed into the pill or you probably can't get it apart to easily drill it.

Yea I would not disassemble the module. Better for heat dissipation and protection of the driver if you did not get the extended heatsink to grab the drilled pill:

Or drill the pill out yourself.:beer:

Thanks dtr. I drilled the pill today but I also ordered the extended heat sink. It does get pretty hot and the the bigger heat sink could only help.
