Well what got me hooked was my first real laser pointer... Kind of. It was a "200mW" green laser for 50$ on some website, which I forgot the name of lol. I got it as a gift for christmas and I was so excited to finally wield my first laser pointer. This was 4 years ago when I was in 4th grade 
When I pressed the button, I was so happy to actually see a green beam come out of the device. It still works to this day, and needless to say, I've come a long way. I will always have a love for lasers, just because they're so unique, from a huge variety of hosts, to the exotic wavelengths, i was so happy to have my first green laser
